I've heard a couple of people remark that if you drop a Fakini multiplying ball, it will bounce and people will think its part of the act. Any reason NOT to bounce them AS part of the act? I've been playing around with bouncing each ball as it's produced, as unstatws proof of solidity. They won't break will they? (I'm not bouncing them real hard or anything, but at $35 apiece, I don't want to damage them.

They can be bounced with ease and cause no damage to the ball itself. I have done it many times. The only time I would not bouce it is if you wre on a rough surface like a craked sidewalk or street. But a normal stage etc. you can bounce them with no worries at all.

Marc,
Have no fear. Professional bounce jugglers use them and silicone compounds just like them (copies) and bounce thousands of times each day and they last for years. Forrest |

Thanks for the reassurance. Does anyone think bouncing them is a bad idea in terms of presentation? I figure no one knows what billiards are anymore anyway, so they might at well be presented as rubber balls, but I'd be curious to hear from the more experienced finger flingers.

I read an article in a magazine once, where a fellow said that the balls should not be bounced as then your audience knows they are made of rubber and are thus easy to grip. I think the auther was just fed up of seeing everyone bounce when it didn't fit the style of the act. I think if you're working a high energy act then it would work well, but for slow are graceful??
Personnally, I love my wooden balls, there's nothing like the thunk you get from dropping one of those to prove they're solid, I deliberatly include a couple of very hard moves in my routine, just in case I drop one! Also I love the idea from a few of the old timers, where they would roll each ball off the stage into the wings, thus proving they're all solid. As for Billiards, I wouldn't worry about it, use them as balls. A traditional set of Billiards is two white and one red, made from ivorine. That doesn't even make a full hand. I use mine just as balls. However that's no excuse to use small balls, remember, size matters and bigger is better Paul |

I'm hardly graceful, so I'll keep bouncing. Thanks.
