International Magician's Society Best of the Best #10 by Rocco. I have it on VHS,
but don't know if it's availaable on DVD. He teaches Slydini's T&R Newspaper in detail. It is awesome. Much better IMO than Anderson's You can contact them http://www.magicims.com/Magic_Shop/DVDs/Best_of_The_Best.php They may be able to help you.

I know it's on Slydini's first(I believe) book The Magic of Slydini by Louis Ganson. I spent 3 years taking lessons from Slydini when I was 15 years old and am still waiting to see any magician that can compare. Anything he created was a gem. And he was one of the finest gentleman you'll ever meet. Everyone loved him.

Steve,
Would love to hear about your experience. What a privilege it was for you. Was there any advice that sticks out in your training that you would like to share?

Together with many others I've posted some of my experiences with Slydini in another thread at the Café. If you read some of the Slydini threads the one common theme is everyone loved him.
The most important thing I learned from Slydini is to be natural. Slydini hid his modus operandi within his personality and manorisms. That is why he was called the "master of misdirection". Nomatter how hard you tried, even when he challenged you, you could not catch him. I believe in the introduction to Dai Vernons Magic Book by Lewis Ganson, Vernon describes how Slydini would fool everyone by the use of his incredible natural misdirection. Read it and I think you will learn some very important lessons. |
