Greetings,

I just starting doing kid show's again. I recently purchased (they are really nice), a set of Harries ABC Blocks.

Wanted to know if anyone could suggest some patter that may go along with this effect?

I've been wracking my brains trying to come up with something, but I am not satisfied with what I have so far.

Thanks!

Hi Jason:

David Ginn has a routine for abc blocks in his book, Professional Magic for Children. It's in the very back, in the birthday party show section. I can't remember the details, unfortunately.

I force the b block by having a see thru force and i have slips of paper with a , b, c, written on them. I force the b which is the one that disappears.

Ralph the Great has a fantastic ABC Blocks routine which was featured in Magic Magazine. (in David Kaye's "Turn it Around" column)

I think Ralph's column appeared about 2 years ago.

We talk about having an "Awesome Birthday Celebration" and what goes into making one. The kids always answer with cake, presents, etc. We talk about the most important thing, friends and family being with us. Then go back over the things they named while we place the blocks back on. Then we all say the magic words "Happy Birthday (Name)" and The B block is found elsewhere. That's okay because even without some of the things we named as long as there are family and friends with us we will still have an "Awesome Celebration!"

I have heard of one that John Cooper does, ans it sounds erally great. Like all of John's material, it is good.

CJ Johnson has two great routines in his show (that he sells), The Magic Inside. One is for a reading show the other for character traits.

I get the audience to vote B away. A is for apple , C is for Candy, and B for bath, which they don't always want to take. The vote is alway for B to begone.

Or...A is for 'orses, B for mutton, C for yourself.

I used to do ABC stung a few years ago I'd ask the kids what A is for and comment on their replies, then ask them what B is for and then act outraged and say "Who said bottom?", for C whatever their answer I'd say "No, the C is for swimming in". Pretty cheesy, probably why I don't do that routine any more!
