Hello, I was honored to be part of a world record event held in New York City. It was sponsored by the UK based Record Holders Republic and the host was The Great Throwdini. I lucked out and produced 10 silver Dollars with one hand. Please understand that this is not a magical presentation, the organizers wanted me to do it for speed not art. The actual magic presentation is approximately 3 minutes 50 seconds. The first time I performed it for magicians was at Fechter’s 1999. Scott Wells wrote in Magic Magazine: “One of the top highlights” I will have that video up here soon…

In the meantime, please enjoy. It’s only 44 seconds long.

I like this one because a guy yells out; "He makes it look so easy"

Thanks for your comments!

Thanks for the response!

Those are REAL US Eisenhower Dollar coins; they have NOT been altered in any way. They were examined by the judges. I chose to use Eisenhower because they are THICKER than Morgan’s. If I used my Morgan coins, I could do 11 or 12. The other reason I chose not to use the Morgan's is because everybody's Morgans will differ in thickness due to the wear and smoothness.

It's all on record at the Record Holders Republic. Give me a shout when you are in the NYC area and I'll let you see the coins for yourself.

Take care -

Justin

Yeah, I don't quite get what the conditions are here.

I also do not get how you "lucked out" by producing 10 coins. There's no luck to it.

I also do not comprehend the time factor. You were still going pretty slowly considering speed was supposed to be a factor.

Again, what were the conditions? Did they have to be held in a certain palm? Was noise a consideration? etc . . .

Hello;

Thanks for the reply and questions, I appreciate them.

First to: vinsmagic
I never saw Mickey Silver so I can't comment. I will say however, he is more than welcome and encouraged to contact Record Holders Republic to find out when the next event is being held. At that time I wish him and anyone else the best setting a new record. I'm sure that Mickey is a great magician, and I hope to meet and see him perform someday. I love coin magic and it would be a great thrill to see someone of his stature. Does he go to Fechter's? Maybe we can meet up there?

Second to: GDW, quote "I also do not get how you "lucked out" by producing 10 coins. There's no luck to it".

OK, true. There is No Luck to it. Truth is, it took me over 8,000 hours of practice to get to that level. The reason I said "Luck" is because up to that moment my personal best was eight silver dollars. When I use Morgan Dollars I could do 10 because they are a little worn and thus smoother and a bit thinner.

quote: "I also do not comprehend the time factor. You were still going pretty slowly considering speed was supposed to be a factor".

Yes, the organizers wanted me to go as fast as possible and to only produce instead of doing my actual routine (which is almost 4 minutes). So even though it looked "slow" I just couldn't go any faster, I still have a little integrity for artistic beauty. And besides, if someone can do it faster, I will certainly congratulate them.

And, quote: "Again, what were the conditions? Did they have to be held in a certain palm? Was noise a consideration? etc . . ."

The conditions are very clearly defined and on record at the RHR. But to answer your question, they had to be held in the Downs Palm. Noise? If you meet me in person, I will do the routine for you and you will not hear anything. So noise was never an issue.

I hope that answered any questions and I want again, thank you. I love magic, coins and meeting great magicians. I am happy that I found the Magic Café; I think it really is a great forum.

And as always, when you get to NYC, be sure to give me a shout. We can get together and share a common love for this great art.

I must say, that was very very nice, Justin!

Your skill of doing that, combined with a Bucket, could very well make for an interesting Misers Dream routine! =]

Keep it up!

Thanks Ron and Vinnie. I used to do a Miser's dream with a bucket. When I walked out, holding the bucket, I would produce the first coin, then as I was about to drop it into the bucket I would drop the bucket onto the floor. Looking a little nervous and not wanting to bend down to pick it up, I would proceed with the routine. This would fool those "in the know" that I wasn't loaded in the bucket. It used to get quite a reaction.

As soon as I convert my 8mm to digital, I will up load the original routine that I did my first time performing at Fechter's. (Scott Wells, in Magic Magazine called it one of the top highlights of the convention. Said I was "Relaxed yet Elegant". That was one of the nicest things anyone ever said about me, and I still Love him to this day)!

And Rod, Mi Casa su Casa...

Don't be a stranger!

Not bad. Smile Hey Justin, did I meet you once in Newark Airport??? Your mannerisms and voice are very familiar??? It was about maybe 4-5yrs ago, and you might've been selling magic products in the terminal there, the D'Lite stuff. We traded bits of magic info, discussion, and even did some tricks. Not sure it's you, but maybe. Smile -MB

Sounds great. By the sound, I ment was it part of their conditiona that there be no talking, lol. Didn't mean to question your abilities in that depatment.

Thanks a lot for clearing that up. Glenn

Justin,

That is very nice and impresive, the Downs palm is the one I use the most and I know it is not easy to DP 10 silver dollars in there,LOL, the only thing I suggest you work on, it is minimizing the movement of your fingers as you produce the coins, if you ever want to meet up, I can show you a way to do that without that much movement.

I can produce 7 morgans and I could go maybe 8, but I won't go for your record,LOL. tooo many things to do for me at this time,LOL.

Once again very well done.

Peace.

Mano.

P.S Now I am Special, to Me I always was.Smile

Thanks for the tip Mano! I guess I move my fingers a lot, just like my mouth. sometimes I have a hard time controlling them-LOL But I know what you're saying and I will be more aware of it!
Next time I'm in the city, I'll give you a shout and we can hook up.

Hi Vinny. I just re-read your post and have a question, please. When you say "no holders or gimmicks" are you implying that I am using them? I don't think you are, but I want to be sure. I am a Big fan of yours and I wouldn't want to dissapoint you in any way.

I just want to make clear that the coins are real and I used nothing to produce them except my bare hand. There is nothing on the coins or in my hand. I do use Dove soap to clean both the coins and my hands. But that's it. If anyone has any questions to the exact guidlines, they are on record at Record Holders Republic.

Thanks for your feedback, I will use it to help me to keep growing. I love the Café and appreciate your input!

True. Who in their right mind would want to spend that kind of time...lol!

My coin production was straight forward, no steals. Mickey's is totally different...TOTALLY AMAZING...but different from mine. If you want to be inspired by one of us, Mickey is the one!

The answer to that question is YES!

Here's the rule...if you make them appear, you should be able to (put 'em back) make them vanish!

If you roll them out on your left hand, you should be able to roll them out on your right. If you produce something with one hand, practice so you can do the same exact production with the other hand. If you only use one hand, you're limiting yourself.

Good luck, Ace!
