George...I am glad I wasn't the only one, whose brain went in that direction.
My bunny went to Alcoholics Anonymous. He changed his name...and kept on drinking. He wanted to go to Anonymous Anonymous, but no one would tell him where the meetings were. back on topic... If one had a reason to go off stage or behind something and it was entertaining...one could have your bunny contained for a shorter time. Harris looking for his lost hair

I load my rabbit about 45 min before his appearance at the end of the show and this causes no problem whatsoever. They need to be cool and ventilated. If they are, they seem to be right at home (they need something solid underfoot, so while I found producing her from a bag to be difficult, she is fine with resting in boxes).

I agree with Dennis Michael and go off stage briefly to get my "rabbit reconstitutor" (a rabbit wringer used as a production) so that we can reconstitute a clippo rabbit I've produced from a hat. I'd never want to have to worry about the bunny's welfare for a whole show, so I find the loading him right before works just fine for me.

Like Marc, I use a Rabbit Wringer as a production, using a rabbit silk that previously appeared and is put into the wringer when the trick first "fails" to work. I keep my rabbit in a top loading cat carrier (quick to get him out) that is covered when I bring it in the house. The carrier and the wringer box are kept inside one of Creative Magic's "Victory Cubes" which is open in the back, and it's sitting next to me during the show. (Side note: Victory Cubes are giant popup dice that fold down in a very small bag, great for decoration as well as utility--I have extras if anyone is interested, since Creative Magic is unfortunately not producing them any longer). The rabbit is loaded in the box during the routine probably two minutes before his appearance--the birthday child is busy with Silly Billy's "Silly Wand" at the time, and the kids are encouraging him/her to pull it to it's full length, so there is plenty of distraction.

I use two rabbits, and I produce them about 40 minutes after I load them, both boxes I use allow them to turn around if they want to and I have never had a problem with overheating.
The birthday child produces them with Bigger wands that ends the show. The birthday child gets his own rabbit to pet and sits with the other children in a circle that get to share the petting of the other rabbit under the supervision of a parent that has been given the assignment before the show. Everything is very well planned for the health and safety of my rabbits. |

I load my rabbit in a mirror box right in front of the kids. I have never been caught doing it.
My travel bag for the rabbit is a soft side animal carrier for airline use. Kids don't recognize it as an animal carrier. I ether turn my back on the kids and load him from the bag to the box with my body blocking or I do it on the floor right behind my suit case table..... My show is 40 min, so my rabbit is usually in the box for about 30. I have never had an issue. If I am performing outside and it is exceptionally hot I may substitute something else for the rabbit. FYI, my rabbits, Hot Fudge and Butterscotch past last year, they were 11 years old. My current rabbits Mouse, Bailey and Tiny are about 8 months old. Mouse and Bailey live in the garage and are about 1 lb each. Tiny on the other hand lives in the living room, has the run of the house and likes to pick on dogs. (he is 20 lbs) |

I keep my bunny in a pot on top of the stove... His name is Stew.
Seriously, I usually load it as it's being brought out. My biggest concern is not using animals outside. I explain that putting a rabbit in a small enclosed space, even if the tempurature is 75 is like putting a small child in the trunk of your car. I routinely pass-up shows where the caller insists on animals outdoors.

As long as they have air holes drill in the trunk I don't see a problem. LOLL

My assistant loads our bunny no more than five minutes before he is produced.
