Hi Everyone. Just found this site while looking for a bit of advice so hopefully someone may be able to help.
I have been performing close up magic for a good lot of years now and have had some great bookings and still get a great buzz from it. Trouble is I am getting a bit past running around all over the place and have been looking to get a residency in a hotel of restaurant or something but have not got a clue how to price it. I wouldn't think I would get away with what I charge for a one off gig since I would be at the venue every week or maybe even a couple of times a week. Is there a going rate or is it just how much the venue is willing to pay? I have heard of magicians working for as little as £25.00 for a couple of hours work in a restaurant. Personally if I can't do substantially better than that I might as well keep with the one off bookings. As any good close up guy knows these can pay good money. Anyway, thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated. Looking forward to spending time on this site. What a great forum. Cheers Rob |

Hi Rob,
Welcome to The Magic Café! We're very glad that you joined us here. I think your question will have a better chance of getting answered if you post it in another forum suited for it. Many people don't come by the New Arrivals forum to discuss magic. It's really just a place to introduce yourself and be welcomed. Check out the main page where all the different forums are listed, and try posting your question in a few of them. Certainly there are people here who will offer great advice, if they just see your question. Welcome again my friend! Cheers, Joe |
