Anyone remember a cigerette manipulator of the 30's called Cal Emmet? I met him in Houston Texas around 1968. At that time he was in his late 60' but still had the ability to do wonders with a pack of smokes. I made a smoking ash tray for his fakes. Sure would like to know what became of him. Also at the same time, and place, I met a card man that went by the name of "The Great Scott". He should be about my age by now (71). Is he still around? Any body know?

Cal Emmett was one of my teachers. He, Howard Campbell and Sigmar the Magician were the first three people to come visit me at St. Joseph's Hospital when I was born. Cal passed away in 1983.
There are at least 15 or 20 people who either currently use or have used the name "The Great Scott." At least 5 of them are/were in Texas. If the one you are thinking of was Fred Scott Donaldson of Austin, Texas, whose age would be about right, he passed away about 4 years ago.

Cal Emmett published several fine effects in Genii magazine, most notably in Charlie Miller's Magicana Column. Worth looking for if you can. I have copies if you are interested - let me know...

I have a few copies of some lecture notes Cal did. One is called "Symphony in Smoke," the other is "Cigarettes in Action."
