I think it is a very serious problem though and I would be very interested to hear what other members tought of it either via PM or email
I want to post an article on my blog about it. I should like to discuss it with anyone who feels thay have been scammed and want to talk about it publicly. It's a very serious and sensative topic. One that is as serious as the 'Magic Fakers'artists or any of the other stuff that goes down illegally. I would welcome your suggestions of how to plan an article about this and various ways we can protect ourselves in the future. Cheers Dean Atkinson |

(Maybe the following will help get this thread deleted!)
Dean, I would like to read your thoughts on "getting burned on transactions," as you write (above). Will they appear on your blog at http://www.deanatkinson.blogspot.com/ ? Rather than individual fraudulent transactions, however, I'm more interested in discussing the false and deceptive practices of Magic dealers and sellers long tolerated by our brethren, on which I have some pretty strong opinions. For example, I recently wrote the following, which touches on this: Quote:
Dean, I know the issues you are raising probably involve individual fraudulent transactions; however, I respectfully suggest the larger issue I mention above should be an even greater concern. Regards, Chrismatt

I support you in this 100%, especially given that I have been associated with a Brick and Mortar store for the past three years. Not only do the issue's you raise involve individuals being burned by mass retail advertising but also on the good guys trying to sell it on with (as we have always prided ourselves on here at The Magic Store) supreme customer service. This is a topic I would like to consider too. It is extremely important and one which other magic bloggers of considerable note have tackeled in the past. The problems remain to haunt us. In answer to your other question, if I feel an article about fraudulent transactons betwen individuals is good enough, I WILL most likely post it on the blog with the permission of any sources I may need to use. I supposeit is early days. I guess Initially I felt a topic such as scamming during deals made on the secondry market was a topic that may not have been discussed that often. I will be thinking about this some more Chrismatt. D |
