I had the great fortune of being able to see Paul perform this past Tuesday at the Magic Castle. I bought his book when it first came out, and what a treat is was to see him perform in person. He had the audience in the palm of his hand with in the first few minutes of his show. He performed for over an hour, and left to a standing ovation. I feel very lucky to have seen this wonderful performer in person. It wasn't "how" he performed, but what he performed. Classics in magic infused with his personality. If you don't own his book or DVD's, don't hesitate to pick them up. His show is a lesson in structure, and getting the most out of props and situations. Watching his show is a memory I'll treasure for a very long time.

I have the DVD set and enjoyed it very much. I bought it primarily to see his Sympathetic Silk routine.
Incidentally, for anyone who has seen his DVD, is it just me or does it look like Daryl sitting in the back, center of the audience? Dan |

Paul opened the show with Sympathetic Silks and killed with it. It definitely set up his character and masterfully controlled the laughter and mystery. It was truly an honor to see him perform live.

I too got the DVD set primarily to see the Sympathetic Silks Routine. And it was marvelous... but I think the highlight for me was his presentation of modifications to "Brainwave."
And yes, that was Daryl in the audience, as were Jeff McBryde, Max Maven, and numerous other magicians including Troy Milligan, Tom Allen, and many more. Paul Potassy is a GREAT entertainer, in the classic style, and I learned so much from the performance and the explanations. He has worked some of these routines over 60 years! And it shows. Mr. Potassy is an excellent magician and entertainer. He is a good friend of mine and I'm very lucky because he is now based in Manila. If you are a member of the I.B.M. please see page 35 April 2007 issue of TLR. I was the one who made the interview.
