Well, the sideshow classes are over for this semester and let me be the first to say that this has been an amazing and informative weekend. All of the professors, Todd, Harley, Chris McDaniel, (leave off the s at the end, there's only one) Throwdini, Ses Carny and yes, Red Stuart were beyond belief. The classes culminated with an all star hour plus performance at the sideshow. After all, it was Super Freak Weekend. The performers were Mat Fraser, Ravi the contortionist, Jennifer Miller the woman with a beard, Coco the Killer Clown, Todd, Chris, Red and Harley.
It was mindblowing. If you missed it, you should be kicking yourself. If you were there, it was great hanging out with you. |

Hey Adam, I've said it elsewhere on here but can't stress it enough. This weekend was amazing, a big thanks goes out to Todd (my first real mentor and someone I consider a real friend), Harley (a person that I've finally gotten to meet after quite some time admiring his work and someone who I'm hoping that I can call a friend from this point on), Chris McDaniel (the man who caused me to run home and order a whip Saturday, and one hell of a guy). Throwdini (an amazing artist, not to mention a friendly and understanding teacher), Ses Carney (great guy, wealth of knowledge and nice as all hell, don't tell him I said that though) and of course Red (a good friend I'm glad that I could get him there so that everyone had the chance to meet him). Besides their performances, which were truly awe inspiring, the "Super Freaks" that were their were absolutely amazing as well, actually performing a show on a very rainy day for a total of about 5 or 6 actual patrons and the entire Advanced Studies Class. Mat Fraser, put on the most innovative act I've seen in a very long time, those of you that were there will know what I mean when I say I was in tears (not to mention on Saturday to see him learning knife throwing for Throwdini.....speechless). Jennifer's act was one I can say I have never had the opportunity to see before and absolutely loved it also so nice and funny on and off the stage. Ravi, all I can say is that if you've never seen his act you are really doing yourself a diservice and immediately do whatever you can to see this absolute artist. Coco, a very funny and enthusiastic performer who after having the opportunity to talk with, I'm very eager to see what he has up his sleeve for his act in the future (be on the lookout for him).
And to everyone else that was their and that I had the opportunity to meet, talk with and just have the opportunity to bring this community together in a way that it truly should be......I thank you so much. Hope we can all do something again in the future. On a side note, I'm hoping that if anyone has any pictures and they have the ability to share them (ie photobucket, flickr, etc.), that you could email me or shoot me an IM with a link. I will definitely do the same if any wants them, I only have a few but just drop me an IM and I'll get them over to you. Dan |

So I wasn't the first, I didn't see your other posts, Dan. I really can't get over the entire weekend. I've ordered a set of throwing knives today. A new whip is forthcoming. If anyone is in the area, Sideshows by the Seashore is having shows all week. Harley is on Wed., Joe Coleman on Thurs and a night of ini's on Fri. (Throwdini, Fredini, Dirty Martini...)
And Matt Fraser will be at the Slipper Room in NYC this Wed. I had the pleasure of working with him last Thursday, but it wasn't until I was in the audience, not working, watching him on both Saturday and Sunday that I saw what a real talented and creative performer he is. |

It was a delight to meet you guys, too! Being entities of avatars and printed words here, just doesn't compare to the real thing.

Harley, your avatar looks a bit something like bugs bunny's shadow. Unless for some odd reason you don't want people to know what you really look like (which is the Easter bunny popping out of a top hat).
I don't even want to go near your "printed words"

I just want to reiterate the facts that my fellow classmates have already mentioned, this weekend was the BEST money I have spent since taking the orginal sideshow school. I was amazed at how all our Professors were able to simplify everything to the point that we were doing the acts in a matter of minutes or even seconds. I also want to thank every one of the teachers and Freaks who came out in the storm of the century, just to share their knowledge with us. I just bought my first chains and locks and can't wait to be tied up.

Nipps, of all the things I can do, I haven't figured out how to do an avatar.
Or buttons. I hate buttons. They were invented to confuse me, I know it!

This weekend was an incredible experience. It is a rare opportunity to be able to hang out with such established performers in these odd fields and be able to ask and get help and advice with anything.

I don't know that I can say much more than what Addy and JerseyRebel13 wrote. I echo those sentiments. It was terrific. If you missed it--YOU MISSED IT. I now have a historic photo of a certain someone tipping the real work on eating a certain translucent substance. Mind blowing. And thanks for bringin Red Stuart. Whew it was overwhelming.
Great to meet those of you who went in person and, for those that I have met before, it was great seeing you again. Jeremy P.s. Harley--I still have bruises!

Me too! My armpits were ripped up a bit.
Maybe you should have tried a full-body tie, with ropes instead of chains. Next time!

I think maybe a duct tape escape.....While handcuffed behind my back, duct tape is placed over my nose and mouth with a plastic bag over my head--sealed at the neck. I am placed in a box that is nailed shut. This box is is placed in a second, larger box that is filled with water and live water mocassins and nailed shut. Followed by the entire contraption lowered into the ground and buried alive by a bulldozer pushing dirt over the hole.
Of course, I am the guy drving the dozer. I have it all worked out.....I am thinking of doing it over Houdini's grave and having him in the passenger;s seat once he is exhumed.
