My favorite meal at the restaurant across the street from my hotel (Smart Noshery That Makes You Slobber... seriously, that was the name!) had awesome pig innard and hot peppers, but I am not a huge fan of chicken hearts. I'll eat them, though, cause I am Native American and we'll pretty much eat anything with a black cup of coffee... My momma didn't pluck and skewer chickens but great-grandmother and great-great gramma both did (and I knew them both well)!
The lack of coffee almost killed me. Luckily, I planned ahead a brought a fat box of coffee in tea bags and in the hotel there was always a pot at breakfast that pretty much only I drank. If you are in school are you eating any Caféteria food? There was a Caféteria for the industrial block where I was working... that place was scary! Even the factory workers were like "Uh, yeah, I don't know what that is..."

Coffee. I remember coffee. A long, long time ago, ina land far far away....
My roommates and I ran out of our coffee rations that we brought from home in less tahn a month. Seeing that beijing is not without its fair share of Starbucks and one or two various Chinese coffee chains, this isn't a huge problem, except for when we want it right away in the morning (Or even better, when we want it late at night) We've been making do with Swedish coffee that we were able to buy at a a newly opened Ikea, but it's just not that good. Today I was at a hot pot restaraunt and the lady next to me was eating something that looked very much like a brain. I asked her if it was in fact a brain and she said yes. I went back to eating my nice, conservative slices of chicken, but couldn't seem to get the brain image out of my mind and I had to know from what animal it came from. I asked and it turns out she was eting pigs brain. It didn't look THAT bad, so I might have to give it a shot next time. I do go to school, but it's a private language school and it's located in an office building. It's actually ar eally nice area and there are lots of restaraunts in the surrounding buildings, but they are a little pricey in my opinion. We usually go down a block or two for lunch. Since most of the Chinese restaraunts we go to have similiar menus, we've come up with some interesting and very creative names to keep them straight. For isn'tance, there is a very smelly river that runs along the street where two of these restaraunts are located. The one on our side of the street is "Stinky River Fanguar" and the one opposite our side, coming from school, is "Opposite Stinky River Fanguar" And who could forget such classics as "Bai Ji Rou Fanguar" As I said, very creative. When we're feeling extra dangerous we go to "Shifu Fanguar" where all the taxi drivers eat. They make the noodles right there in front of you, but you neer quite know what's coming out of the pot when they put the meat on. It's the sort of place I like going to, but toend to avoid when I have visitors in town. |

E-mail me with your address in Beijing.

ontracmagic On Trac Entertainment 0 Posts |
Hello my name is Jason Fluck and I am the owner of On Trac Entertainment. I have always had an interest in magic and just decided to add it to our entertainment packages. I have owned On Trac for 5 yrs now and this was the next step to fill in the weekends that are dead. Does anyone have any suggestions on what magic I should start with and what should the first tricks I learn be. I know alittle about the mouth coils and card tricks but that is about it. Where do you suggest learning them as well as buying them.
