Effect: Connected
Creator: Peter Harrison Format: Pdf manuscript Price: £10 (approx $20) Available: http://www.peter-harrison.com What is Connected? Connected is a Torn and Restored card to spectators wallet, and it's something that Peter Harrison has been using as his closer for the last seven years or so. Effect description? Here is a basic outline of how the effect plays. A card is selected by the participant and they are instructed to tear it in half, then tear those two pieces in half again. They keep ahold of a piece and the performer collects the remaining three pieces and holds them enclosed in his/her fist. The performer concentrates on the pieces and slowly begins to open his/her hand... the pieces have vanished. The performer looks up at the participant and quitely asks "do you have a wallet"? They reach into their pocket and remove their wallet and open it... inside is their card fully restored, fully restored apart from one piece that is. The piece they have been holding onto is the missing piece, perfectly fitting. Surely it doesn't play exactly like the description? Well yes it does actually. The spec tears the card, the spec removes their wallet, the spec opens their wallet and the spec removes the card and puts the piece they have been holding up to see if it matches. Surely a stooge is involved, or some form of pick pocketing? No stooges are used at all, instant or otherwise. You never secretly obtain their wallet or have to even ever go near their pockets. Surely this must be a real knucklebuster then, can I possibly do this with the hands of a mere mortal? that's the thing, this is very easy to perform with no real sleights to worry about, leaving you to really put your all into performance. You don't need to worry about anything as it's a fully tested, real world, fully workable effect with every angle and detail really thought through and perfected. Hows the pdf manuscript? The manuscript is twenty two pages of very well written and explained instructions going over everything in great detail, from the workings and performance to advice and additional thoughts. Does the pdf manuscript contain pictures? The manuscript contains many clear, easy to understand pics. My thoughts? I truly believe that this is one of the greatest effects ever. For me this is a perfect effect. It's routined to perfection and is totally achievable in the real world. It's not often something comes along that is of this callibre, and for those who are workers, this will be a very valuble addition to your working repetoire. I could go on and on about how good it is etc, but really you should see for yourself and pick this up, you won't be disappointed. The price on this is just crazy for what you are recieving, but then Peter Harrison is not just putting something out to make a quick buck and so is pricing it so that it's within the reach of all who would like to learn and perform this. He loves this effect and has obviously put a lot into it to get it to where it is today and I'm thankful that he's decided to release this to the magic community. Overall? This is absolutely amazing and it's something that I will definitely be using from now on. Some may be sceptic about this and not believe it's as good as what I'm saying, but believe me, you don't want to miss out on this. Of course it won't be for everyone, and this is just my opinion, but if you even remotely like the sound of this then pick it up and get ready to amaze. |

So, another positive review. first of all, I received my ebook(s ... it was the combo package) within 4 minutes. that won't happen everytime, I know, but it shows me that peter cares about his product. the email states it was sent personally.
y2john has said everything I would say about this effect. it's just perfect and finally an effect description really describes what is happening. to be honest, it conceals a bit. but that's not a big problem. believe me, I'm really picky when it comes to comparing effect descriptions with the actual method. what you read is what you get PLUS something extra (so the concealment is in reality a PLUS!). and most of all: the handling is really easy. there's nothing I would call a "move". "moves" happen when there is heat on your hands. the routine is structured so well that you are way ahead most of the time. the only thing you need to do the trick is courage and confidence. I don't have enough of this to do pickpocketing, not even "xyz under spectator's watch", but I will definitely try this one. the only problem with this is: you can't practice it much at home. remember? no "moves". it's something you have to try on real spectators and see if you can get away with it. peter also gives you patter suggestions and extra ideas to enhance the effect. the latter was nothing for me. the effect itself is strong enough. |

This sounds too good to be true, although I'm 100% optimistic about it! So are you guys really telling me that this is something I can do in the real world, like walk around at a restaurant? I like REALLY need to buy this ASAP if that's the case...this just sounds amazing.

It's been my closer for gigs for about 7 years now. Every performance. Yes its been tweaked over the years and evolved but I've been doing this for that long and I can promise that it works.

I just bought this, and the notes too. I figured the combo deal was too good to pass up. I can't wait to get this.

I receieved an email with the links to the downloads today, and opened them at soon as I got home from the restaurant where I table hop. I must mention that Paul was kind enough to send a personal email, and he told me I could ask him for any help if I needed it. This is greatly appreciated, and made me even more so happy to be a customer.
First of all, the effect is exactly as described. And yes, as Adrian said, you do get a plus. I don't want this to sound too easy, but I can see myself doing this WAY sooner than it took me to learn some color changes! The book is 22 pages long, which includes pictures when you need them (he explains things so well, you really don't need any honestly), but most importantly, information about the presentation for this effect. Paul offers a very great example for patter and presentation which makes perfect sense, and climaxes when you ask your spectator, "Do you have a wallet?" I know this review might be going back and forth, from one place to another, but it's because I just read this book and I am just going nuts about how simple this is. There is NO pickpocketing. There are NO difficult sleights. It's that simple. Several of the "moves" can be practiced at home, but some must be done with the spectator. There really is no risk though if you follow Paul's instructions. Don't expect an elaborate working for this effect, because you won't get it. If you want something that has a simple method and is devastating to spectators, buy this now. This is probably the most worthwhile purchase I've made. This effect is that good. I can't stop talking (typing?) about it. Ahh let me stop and go practice it maybe? Ha, thanks Paul for such a great effect! I'm downloading "Magic in the Real World" now and I'm very confident the material will be just as good! Bryan Londen |

"magic in the reak world" is a collection of several effects. it didn't completely fit my style because the strongest effects (that made me buy the combo) rely on a very special move that I just can't do, especially this close to a spectator. you might know it, maybe you even use it already. I can't say any more without giving away the method. but as I said, the ebook contains more effects. I have found 4 other effects I will try out. I think that's more than enough for the asked price, especially if you buy the combo. I promise you will find at least one effect that suits you. |

Thank you Adrian and Bryan for the kind words! But I must point out a simple mistake... My name is Peter
Its the PH thing, people always call me Paul on forums because of Paul Harris. Nathan Kranzo was the last person to call me Paul and I almost let him get away with simply because its Nate... But yeah, I am VERY pleased to hear the positive comments and remember to get in touch if you have ANY questions at all during the time you are using the material! Take it easy, P.H. |

Haha! I can't believe I kept calling you Paul. If it makes you feel any better I was going through the Art of Astonishment books yesterday, so I have somewhat of a little excuse, lol.
