I watched "Rio Bravo" last night and got to wondering who the card consultant was who taught Angie Dickinson her moves for this film. There are several scenes of her playing, nothing fancy, but competent and confident card handling, and there is one scene of her toying with the deck and doing some nice color changes. I tried to catch the credits to find out who the consultant was (Scarne? Ose? Garcia?)but got distracted and didn't see it. Anyone have the DVD of this movie so they can check the credits and see if it tells?

Considering when it was made I'd be Scarne, he seemed to be the go to guy back then.

Santa,
Yes the time period is right, then again Jay Ose was the cardman for "Cincinnati Kid, made 3 years later, and I know Frank Garcia was well known then too. It would be fun to find this out, if possible.

I haven't seen it in a while. From what I've heard all she did was a mediocre color change that was probably facilitated by someone feeding her cards under the table.

That's possible, the color change scene only lasts about 10 seconds, and I don't have the DVD so I can't re-run it, but I bet they still had a card consultant.
I'm told Ms. Dickinson was a regular at The Magic castle during the 70s, which would suggest she was at least moderately familiar with Magic and probably with some of the Castles denizens. Jay Ose was closely associated with the Castle during the 60s, and did quite a lot of film consulting around that time

Dean Martin
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

The Internet Movie Database doesn't have a consultant credit (see http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0053221/fullcredits ). However, it does list Yakima Canutt as an uncredited stuntman.

It's well known John Wayne always used his clout to get parts in his films for any of his friends who were out of work.
