Yup, as in Denny Haney (of the one and only Denny and Lee's Magic Studio)! For the new podcast show, Pepka and I had a conversation with Denny to hear what he had to say about some pretty important topics. We covered:
Instant Download Magic Videos, Hypnotism in Vietnam, The Rickshaw Illusion and Mark Wilson's Dollar, Plus much more! Let me know what you guys think of it! (Due to the length, we decided to do one half at a time. This is part 1) http://www.reelsinmotion.tv/magiclantern009 Scott |

I agree. So much of what he said is very topical, too. My favorite part was when we started talking about how much information is hidden away in books and the new trend of instant downloads (and how it is hurting magic).
Hopefully a few people will listen to the show. In fact, I'd love eto hear what anyone things! Scott |

No matter how many people do it, I've always been allergic to instant downloads.
I've found out that two people who learn same trick from the same book might come up with diffrent presentation style. which is very good for the art. Books are the way to learn any art. You can always resel them if the content doesn't fit your style |

there is something about the feel of a book. It just not the same in front of a screen or reading pages of the printer. However the search function is nice.

Denny isn't likely to put down some of his best advise in a book. You learn a lot from him just sitting around the shop while he is eating a sandwich or something. Media like this is where Denny is going to give the widest broadcast of some of that very valuable experience he has. Glad you did this. We need more of Denny down for posterity.

Thanks everyone. Pepka and I were thinking the same thing during the taping of the show. Even on the ride back we were saying how people like Denny have so much insight and so many stories, they could easily do a half hour or an hour show like this on their own each week!
Maybe because of this show, more people will visit him and just sit and listen to his 'ramblings' that are filled with gold. By the way, photius, I'm sure you'll enjoy some of the earlier shows with Blackstone, Sr. Now HE was a storyteller! Can't wait for you guys to hear the next half of the interview! Scott |

Yes, Uncle Harry was a real yarn spinner. Didn't realize you had them got to go check them out.

Here's a direct link to that show (with Blackstone Sr. speaking to Clint Riedel) recorded in Philadelphia on Jan 9, 1952. Also on the recording is Freddy Phillips, the stage manager for Harry Blackstone, Sr., Silent Mora and Jules Bamberg:

For everyone who enjoyed the first half of Denny Haney's interview in our last podcast, wait until you hear him in the second half. He doesn't pull any punches and we had to change our iTunes rating from <clean> to <explicit> becuase of this interview! So be warned!
You can listen to this one without hearing Episode 9 first, but just keep in mind, this is the second half of our interview with Denny. http://www.reelsinmotion.tv/magiclantern010 Let me know what you think. Enjoy! Scott |

Thank you for your thoughts and for taking time to listen to the podcast. These are a blast to do and I'm so glad you found some of the gems. Denny is full of them! I wish more people could spend time in shops like his. They would learn so much. I realize how much I DON'T know when I visit his shop!
Thank you for listening to the show! Scott |
