A sword basket might be good. It's simple to build.

Bit strange post. You just want to build something? FOr just building process?Build youreself something useful, something you need for youre show and something that you will also perform (it must fit with the theme of the show). YOU SHOULD NEVER ADD ANYTHING TO YOU`RE SHOW, JUST CAUSE IT IS EASY TO BUILD!

I can understand how one could get confused from my original post. But, I've been wanting to add an illusion to my corporate show for a while now and since I have the time (tearing a ligament in my knee) I decided to do a lot of research here and find one that would be suitable for me to build, play with, see how I like it, etc. then maybe put it (or one I buy) into my show.
Sorry for any confusion. Josh London |

What I like to do is convert close-up to stage illusions. Like Cups and Balls, then it will be bigger and use dogs, or whatever, instead. The Chair Suspension is a good one, as well.

As I made my mock up of the Sub Trunk with foam core, I was wondering what kind of wood to use for the final trunk? Any suggestion?
I am going to lightly burn the trunk and stain it, making it a dark-looking trunk. I want it to be really sturdy, as I'm 6'3" and weight about 250 lbs. Also, does anyone have any ideas as to how I could make this more compact when I'm travelling with it, or is simply unscrewing the best way? Thanks! Josh |

Josh, I don't use mine much, so I can get away with just unscrewing all the screws. But, I think a better approach would be gluing a 1x1 cleat to one side and attaching the adjacent side using bolts and T-nuts.

Thanks, Mike. I'll be using that idea!

You can also use a 1x1 aluminum angle, screwed to one side and bolted/T-nutted to the other.
Things are more like they are today than they've ever been before...

I started with a tip over trunk from mark wilson's complete course in magic book. then I converted it to a sub trunk as well. after that I suggest building some type of sawing illusion (either thin model or zigzag) - both from osborne.
