Anyone knows what's this effect called? It reminds me of a "do as I do". The impossible one, I must say! Smile

His presentation is sooooo...great.

Don't think it has a name, it's a couple of methods rolled into one as far as I know.

It's called The Underwear, because the mentalist doesn't wear any pants under the table during the effect.

I think that's part of the misdirection.

Actually, a friend of mine and I have been trying to work this one out. Our excuse is that attempting to work out the secret of a trick will put us in a great mood for discovering new magic!

My thinking is along the lines of the patented psychological force, followed by a wonderfully Nymanistic idea. I have an idea as to how I'd do it, although I have no idea what the 'official version' is!

Great effect, read Ted Lesley and you will find answers...quite easy though takes time. Smile

Funny this thread was moved to "you oughta be in pictures" possibly the lamest possible place they could have moved this thread to. I am failing to understand how the two go hand in hand. Any help? Or is this just another Café mystery?

This discussion is based around a video.

And aside from using roughed cards... I'm lost.

On second thought, maybe should leave it as a mystery and pure coincidence as it is

if it baffled someone like Mr. Townsend, then maybe I should baffled as long as I may =P

Anyways, just wanted to share the video with you all...

The story he tells is the misdirection for the decks, keep their mind occupied from being concious of the deck maybe.
Just my opinion.this trick is naggingly familiar.

Take the "spectator thinks of any card" out of the equation. Pretend you have forced the 7 of Hearts on them. Now ask youself how you would accomplish the rest of the effect. I think you'll come up with an answer pretty quickly.
As far as the "spectator thinks of a card" goes, Brown deals with methods in his books and other mentalists have also. Bottom line is that it is not sure fire. My guess is there may have been other couples filmed.

I don't think other couples were filmed for this. Jonathan Ross is a big celebrity with his own BBC chat show here in the UK. They weren't just pulled-in off the street for this. I like this routine. It just shows how much presentation matters. Otherwise it's a card trick. For the wannabes: Dan Paulus, David Regal, Eddie Burke...

Blind luck(Dan Paulus) can't be this hands off sadly,I suppose there may be a way around it.I cant think of the Regal trick but I believe I have it on video somewhere,

If you want to work out how to perform this, simply break it down into its different elements.
I'm, not comfortable divulging anymore, as none of the ideas came from me.
