When I first put together my Hundy 500 gimmick I had to go to every bank in my town to find all the new and crisp, or close to, bills I needed. It was a real pain.

Then one day I was over in a neighboring city, apparently in the middle of this city is a craft/hobby store which is the only place in that city, or mine, which sold Testors Dull Coat. I could get Krylon locally, but I like Testors better. Anyway, I was walking out with my small can of Testors, when I look to my right and see the Casino. I figure what the hell, I walk in, a guy checks my ID, and I find a slot machine I like. I pop in $20 and start playing. I decide to cash out when I am $15.50 ahead (Hey, I left with more than I walked in with, so I was happy). I go to the counter and give them the ticket and get my money. To my surprise every bill they gave me was practically new.

So all in all, for new and crisp bills, a casino is a good place to start. Just don't bet the money on you way out.

Hah! Some things just happen in the strangest of ways.

If you check with the "main office" of the bigger banks in your town, they usually have new bills. The smaller, satellite branches only have what is traded over the counter.

Just a thought for those NOT near a casino.

I have had good luck with the change that is dispensed out from the Walmart self checkout line. Most of the time the bills that come out are new and crisp.

You can go to any bank and order bills. Ones will come 100 to a bundle.

Banks (in the US) can not rely on customers cash for their needs. They order paper money once a week, but have no control on what (how new) the money is that the Federal Reserve sends them each week.

Around the holidays they generally get new bills. You can ask a Teller Manager to special order you new bills, but they can not guarantee they will get new ones.

Use the iron and you make any bill crisp.

I found it is a bit short lived when you use an iron.

I have often ironed bills for a show, why do you think it would make them "short lived".

You just get them a bit damp and press them with a hot iron. They are made of linen, not paper. But it does not make them look and feel like new money.

I was just saying the "feeling" of a new/crisp bill doesn't last too long when I iron a somewhat older bill.

Always go to a 'National Bank' to get currency, new bills, half dollars, silver dollars, etc.

National Banks are connected directly to the Feds and it is there obligation to supply this type of service.

State banks and locally owned banks are not and do not have to give this kind of service.

I had the same problem, trying to find new bills. It took me a month, partially because I used $5 bills in my routine. Never tried the ironing method, I don't think that would make an old bill new or even close to it, the crispness of a new bill can only come from a new bill.

Actually, no bank is under that obligation. They will "request" things of the Federal Reserve Bank they get their bills from, but a responsible teller manager will tell you that you (they) may or may not be able to get new bills.

They do tend to get them around major holidays and at school graduation months. This is because the Feds get flooded with so many requests from banks that they routinely send new bills out.

Of course, for a little extra you can go to the federal reserve website and order your own, even in uncut sheets, in just about any denomination you might like.
These are all quite crisp and new!

The Federal Reserve can not sell bills to the public. They deal with banks only regarding distribution. You may be thinking of the Bureau of Engraving and Printing.

The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is the place that sells sheets of bills. Your local bank may be willing to order them for you as well. To purchase uncut sheets to cut your own normal bills would be very expensive. After all you can get them from your bank with a little patience.

Any bank can give you new bills, but they like to keep them for "special customers" some times. Those with change machines, their own ATMs etc. Generally if you get friendly with a teller, you can get new bills if you ask for new bills. How to get friendly, well you don't have to flirt, it can be a male or female teller, just try to use the same teller in a smaller branch, if possible, each time. Speak friendly to them, don't go in mad and take it out on them, etc. Always thank them, etc. I've never had a problem getting new bills. A bit of honey catches more flies than vinegar.

I love going to the bank to get all my crisp bills for my Hundy. While they are looking for bills you can do magic and every bank employs good looking women and for the women who doesn't like guys in a suit handling money! This should be a duh!!!!
Peace
