I finally found a great source for shims and chances are you have a tons of them in your home already. For the shims, (great for shells too) Open a DVD case. See the security tag? Peel it off and flip it over. See those metal strips? They are small magnetic strips that set off the detectors in stores. Cut them out and two will slide out if you cut of the end, and the last one you have to work at. These are great thin shims!!

Razor blades are good too, very thin.

These strips cut with scissors, and besides, I use my razor blades for a routine, lol!

These strips are great, super thin. I find you need two to shim a card, one isn't quite enough for the weight. I haven't tried them for a [.

The shell I made from these doesn't work too well with my PK ring, but works great with the M5! Glad you found it suitable!

Wow, this is a great idea. I have a whole sheet of those things in a box someplace from my days in retail... I KNEW I didn't throw them away for a reason. Kudos!

I have used shims to make my own shim cards. I was told where to obtain shim stock and was surprised to find out that it is very inexpensive.
Go to a supply house that supplys machine shop equipment. They have rolls of shim stock in any thickness you want, much thinner than a razorblade. It is about $6 for a 6 inch by 100 foot roll. More than you will use in a lifetime. You can cut it into any shape for your coins, cards, or whatever you need. |

Thanks for that advice Rob. I have been looking for a place that sells shims for a while.
