Now that IS clever.
Just watched the vid and checked out the special files. This will work in the UK with a bit of tinkering. This is very cheap for what you get as has been said many times in this thread. I also think the idea has applications beyond magazines. |

I've been away from the Café for too long! This is brilliant! I just bought it today and I'm going to use it for a big show that I have next weekend. I've been a long-time fan of Steve's material and own just about everything he's put out. He got railed about the Goodbye Vanish, but that effect got me one of the best bookings I had last year by completely blowing away a club owner. I'm still doing that gig, and I owe Steve another thanks for an effect that I'm sure will be a great addition to my show! Thanks Steve!

Just got this too and like everyone so far I'm very impressed.
From the descriptions in here I'd guessed what item the effect would be using but not how much thought had gone into its application within the effect, right down to the way it looks. UK purchasers will have to put a bit more work in because the item is not so common over here but there are plenty of similar items that will substitute nicely. I'm very pleased |

The original price was $6.95 - now it's $19.95 but it's still worth the price.

Glad I got on board when I did, at the introductory price. Even so, knowing now what I didn't know then, I would still pay the $20 for this item. After all... there's still the money back guarantee (and I'm betting that most who buy it will be quite satisfied with it, even at $20).
Thanks again, Steve! |

Just had a strange experience, wonder if I am alone
I have read these reviews for a while and finally convinced myself to buy it --- just sounds cool, fun and I have come to really rely on the reviews on this forum as they have generally steered me straight. I click on the site, and the the price is now $20. While I am perfectly willing to believe the effect is worth the money, and have certainly purchased more expensive tricks, the fact that it used to be priced at $7 stopped my finger in mid-press. For some reason, I just cannot bring myself to buying it, even though I know full well that if it had always been priced at $20 I probably would have bought it. Weird? I started wondering whether other people feel this way. As long as less then 2/3 of potential buyers feel that way, the price increase still makes economic sense. On the other hand, if more potential buyers decline then the move actually loses money. Sorry for rambling, just wanted to share my thoughts. |

If you hesitated at paying $6.95 for a trick that everyone was saying great things about, you deserve to pay $20 now.
Moneyback guarantee, $6.95 and people wait two months. Weird. James

$20 does deter the average visitor nowadays. To quote Cheech Marin, "Things are tough all over." That's why I've dropped the price on all the downloads at DownloadMagic.com
The thing is, this effect is not so attractive to the majority of my customers because of the nature of it. I think the average web surfer is more interested in learning the secret to something visual. They are not serious performers and most likely just want to learn a secret. I actually don't want to give up too much of my web philosophy here so let's just say that the people who really need this will be more than happy to pay $20 for it. As long as this particular item has other, more visual magic like the Floating Cigarette next to it, it won't sell to the newbie regardless of price and that's my main audience online. I should mention that the original was like $35 and that was almost 15 years ago. This new one ended up being much better because you can update your magazines. I also integrated a system that allows you to do a much more thorough reading in the new one. Certainly not trying to argue with anyone here. I agree the price will stop a lot of people who would have bought it at the lower price. The trick has actually been removed from the DownloadMagic.com item list because it no longer fits into the price structure. I'm developing a new site for a more serious audience. The majority of DownloadMagic.com isn't really representative of the type of material I'd like to peddle online. Remember that DownloadMagic.com was the first downloadable magic shop and the tricks were chosen by what could be translated into a DIY product. Video downloads as a product also were not at all practical way back then. Anyway, now I'm babbling on. Thanks very much for the input, it really is invaluable to me. Amagazing was too darn cheap. That's all Steve PS. If you don't' get 20 bucks worth of entertainment out of it, just get your money back. No hard feelings.

OK, I'll chime in: I'm darn lucky to have gotten this at $6.95. But it's still a bargain at $20.00.

If this type of effect is one that you can actually see yourself DOING for real people in real-life, than $20 is more than fair. You would know from the reviews that the method is indeed practical, effective, and powerful.
If you are a person who is merely interested in collecting a new method or learning a new secret, than $6.95 is probably the price for you. I bought it at $6.95, and I do fall into the second category, as I do not really foresee myself doing this type of effect--I just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Nothing wrong with the effect or method, which are indeed great. Very clever idea. |

I'm not sucking up or anything, but I would have been happy to have paid $35 for this effect (I was one of the lucky ones to get it at $7). While some of the mildly curious might pop the $20 just to learn the secret, I love the fact that it requires work on the purchasers part to actually put it together, which means fewer people actually performing it. Don't get me wrong, I've been burned by over hyped material in the past, but I personally don't believe that this is a hyped item. The method is great, the price is more than reasonable, and I really believe that this would be a great addition to just about any serious performers repertoire.
