Hi guys (and Gals) I saw a thumb tie on TV some years ago and would like to know what it is called and who the originator is. I think the performer was Mac King (but I might be wrong).

It used two of the food bag ties (wire down the middle sandwiched between paper or plastic). They are held in a cross shape and one is twisted around the other. They are shown t be joined and then one is twisted round the thumb the other thumb is then placed on top and the wire twisted round it.

The usual thumb tie fun and frolics ensue.

I know the tie method and enjoy using it but wanted to know if anyone knew who designed it?

The method Mac uses is an adapation of the Jaspernese Thumb Tie, created by Jay Marshall. It's available in manuscript form. The original used wire pipe cleaners but the pipe cleaners were replaced by the wire food ties.

Thanks Carnegie!

I will look out for that and consider getting the manuscript. I do know how it works - but feel it is often worth getting the originators ideas on the method etc.

Thanks Again. Dave

Sparky, look for the "Jaspernese Thumb Tie". Also look (I hope I recall this correctly) for the Jay Marshall Book of Magic. It has one of the clearest set of instructions for handling, that I've ever seen.
