Hello,
Goes anyone here have the new plan from Andrew Mayne's newest illusion called Bisection ? Here is the dealer text: Andrew Mayne, creator of FACELIFTER and SHOCK FX presents a brand new effect for the solo illusionist. At any time during your show make half your body disappear in a fraction of a second. Just as quickly as your body vanished, it returns. Perform it anytime, anywhere. There's even a way to perform it surrounded. It's a perfect effect for the street magician or stage illusionist. Included are step-by-step instructions for building the apparatus and performing the effect. Total time to build the effect: 20 minutes. Total cost to build: $10 (or less). Can anyone provide feedback on this effect? Markus |

I have a question about this illusion - namely for EddieKap (who seems to have bought this).
I mostly do magic for co-workers and at parties, gatherings, what not. I think I understand the basic principal of this illusion (similar to Fearson's Lazer) - my question is this: Could I be performed, in say, an office setting? |

I wonder what the audience thinks is holding up the cloth after your upper body has vanished.
Thought: Why does man kill? He kills for food. And not only food: frequently there must be a beverage.

For those of you who own Bisecttion i have a quick question.
How sorrounded can you be? I ask this becaus it mentions that it is great for street performance. While i do not own it my theories on it design lead me to believe that anyone on the back 180 degree's is going to see everything. Am i right or wrong on this belief? Mat |

Bisection can be done totally surrounded, using the hoop with curtain as said earlier. The illusion is meant to be fast, unlike the laser illusion where the routine is performed in a slow manner. As far as an office setting goes, its possible. As with all things like this, just think about your surroundings to make sure you can pull it off. Bisection is the best illusion invented since the steve Fearson laser, guaranteed!
Hoping, Praying, David Copperfield will not buy Andrew Mayne out and only allow himself to have performing rights , LOL It's just a joke, although Bisection is so good that I do get worried about things like this. |

Don't worry once it has been released anyone who buys it has the right to perform and those right s cannot be revoked, as i understand it. If D.C. was to buy it all he could do is stop releasing it. So if you got it, use it, and if you don't have it, get it!

I agree! I've only performed it once live and a couple of times on videotape to see the effect and it is awesome! The people I showed freaked out. I'm planning on combining Bisection with Andrew's Pocket Sawing effect. Andrew has a particular way to present Pocket Sawing that looks a lot like DC's stage version. If you have already ordered Bisection, get Pocket Sawing too. It's a really great idea, and even though I had an idea on it's workings, for the money it's worth supporting fellow magicians and their ideas. You just gotta love dismemberment magic!

... can anyone that has this upload a video of themselves doing it? I realize there is an animated .gif on the wierdthings.com website -- but I'd really like to see it from start to finish via a video clip.
I'm sure everyone else is anxious to see it too! |

No video but here is the routine from start to finish:
Take a cloth or long trench coat, holding it up covering your entire body, the cloth falls revealing your midsection but the upperhalf of your body has vanished! The jacket or cloth is raised again and dropped on the floor and you walk away, back to normal. I did video myself performing it, however I put my own twist on the illusion so I do not wish to show everyone my version of it. Not really sure why you need a video clip... I think people with the technology of today always want to see everything on video. The illusion is easily performed and is very smooth. No funny movements. No video needed for a 15.00 effect! |

Nappa think of altering it maybe to fit you...
If you still don't enjoy it for you I am cool but I still have to say this effect is neat and with practice looks great. Andrew gives ideas in his books and manuscripts but leaves you enough space to expand the effect to suit you. Take care, Kyle |
