I have been sitting on (not literally) a radio controlled milk to light bulb and have never used it. Does anyone have any different Ideas with this prop? I have never felt that making milk vanish and reappear would be too entertaining for adults, but perhaps I haven't conceived the best patter for that effect.
Thanks, Matt

If you collected the milk from lactating mothers in the audience, I'm sure all the adults would sit up and pay attention.

Yeah, Alan Wakeling has two wonderful bits with it, one in a bar act where a cocktail makes the transpostion (Grasshopper (pale green milky minty number) which makes the light change green at the right moment). The second is in an Ariel Fishing routine, most good! Canaries and even girls have been put in the bulb.
You can put a good routine together with some of the classic milk props for a good family show, use a kid volunteer... hydrostatic glass, comody funnel, breakaway wand, milk tumbler.... you get the idea. Paul |

Mr. Electric (Marvin Roy) uses his lamp to have a bill found inside the bulb. As does another magician. Another idea is to vanish a silk and have it appear in the bulb.

I was thinking of doing a signed bill to bulb with a TT. I would like to see Mr. Electrics performance of that.
I was also thinking of a goldfish to lightbulb, I just need to find a good goldfish pull.

There is a good explanation of it in Jim Steinmeyer's book about Alan Wakeling.....

Mr Electric's routine is shown and explained in his video from http://www.stevensmagic.com
The problem with the goldfish idea is the fish has to have air. |

For years I have used a "thirsty magician" theme...when I want a late night drink of milk in an out of town motel.
1. Condense milk -- paper cone and pitcher -- snap out to white silk. 2. Arrive in motel and unpack (sub routines can include appearing safety ladder - undressing for bed with male variation of bra trick (loud shorts).) turn on light. 3. Get thirsty, pull silk from pocket - place on top of Gun (wish I had an Eddie Joseph Model, but use the Nagic Hands one I have) and fire silk (condensed milk) at bulb, unscrew bulb and do Mr. Electric type pour.

Mr Electrics Bill to Bulb routine is also writen up in "Conjuring Anthology" by Steinmeyer, with some other wonderful lightbulb magic.
Oh, and Paul Daniels did a lovely routine with a mouse once too... You'll like that one, not a lot, but you'll like it
The goldfish works fine because the bulb isn't full of water. To vanish it you don't need to use a pull, there are plenty of methods that appear more humane to your audience... again check the Wakeling book. Paul |

Lots of great info. Thanks a million.
I am working on the goldfish, I know it will be fine for a short period of time in the bulb. I modified a net and found a fake (bait) fish that will look close enough to a real fish to facilitate the actual vanish from my hands. I will be looking into both the book and video.
