NE Plus Ultra Chip Prediction (Ted Lesley)
For many years we have asked Ted to produce some fun gems and lighthearted mentalism effects for us. While most of his products have been reserved for the advanced fractioned of mentalism and can be fairly involved and perplex (and are in high demand for that reason), we are proud to offer these items from the "Lite Menu" of Ted's mind, exclusively available from Stevens Magic. The NE Plus Ultra Chip Prediction is exactly one of those items. Here is the part of the routine, "Here you see 10 chips, and each of them with has a number from zero through nine on its other side. I am going to step into the next room for a few minutes. During my absence, I would like for you to change the position of these chips by moving any numbers of them from the left end of the row to the right end, one at a time, like this:" "You can also try to fool me by not moving any chips at all... When you have finished, send someone to the next room, and let me know. I will then tell you, without looking at the chips, which of the chips you should turn over in order to reveal how many of them you have moved. You can leave someone in the room with me to make sure that I do not cheat in anyway." When you are called back in the room, you then assume the pose of the psychic, spread your fingers, close your eyes and concentrate and then announce, "Counting from the right, turn over the third chip," and that chip will reveal the exact number of times you moved!" It does! Now you can repeat this again with a different person. The third time is the big kicker - this time you say, "I would like to really show you something incredible - this time -- I will write a prediction on a piece of paper. The prediction will tell you which of the chips will reveal the number of chips you have moved!" "Wait until I say -- start -- to begin moving the chips". You then yell, "Start" and they start of move as many chips as they want, and sure enough your prediction upon opening it is exactly correct!" The challenges Ted put on himself for this new "Lite Menu" line was the effects had to be fun to perform, powerful and affordable - and Ted really delivers all that an much more with this routine and effect! This is a variation on an old card trick. Ted had the chips made up by a company that manufactures custom chips for European casinos. The difference between Ted's version and the old card trick is that the old card trick did not have an ending. Ted ends with a prediction.

It's easy to do, as long as you remember how to count.
