Every now and then, I burn my finger tips a little bit. Does anyone have any technical skill advice for me?

Yes! The secret it to hold the string tight, if not, you will be burned.

No problem. It is common for people to hold loose or let go at the last second and that is what causes the burn, the flash gets between the fingers. You just hold it tight and it won't burn you. Try it and let us know how it works.
