Woody Landers I miss you. The magic world has lost one of its greatest close-up magicians. Those that knew Woody will never forget him, he was truly one of a kind. I met Woody in 1982 and he taught me most all the coin and card tricks I know. I still do both of them. Twenty five years later, he was still teaching me. This was a man with patience, warmth and friendship. Woody, you are missed, Rest in Peace.

Woody had many friends and I am happy to be included in that group. We shared more than magic for over 35 years. I concidered Woody as my best friend and I will miss so much.

I am shocked to learn about this so late. Woody and I always joked around at conventions. I remember when I first saw him at the S.C.A.M. Convention. His knowledge of magic was astounding. I will miss Woody as will my wife. He will not be forgotten by Us. Thanks Woody for helping keep my magic going in the right direction.

Apologies for this late post, but I just found out about Woody's death not even 5 minutes ago, and I still cant believe it. I met him 5 years ago right after I began practicing magic, and even though I was only 13, he still showed me some of his genius ideas and improvement to what I, as a young magician, was working on. I used to visit him and Woo at the shop whenever I could get down there, I live in Fredericksburg, and every second I spent watching, learning, and speaking with him was a blessing. He was unrivaled. I will miss his genius, but most of all his jokes and laughter. About a month before he was killed, I and my best friend fellow magician, visited the shop to film a documentary on the magic subculture. I just realized that this was probably the last time he was caught on tape. I am currently in the process of re editing the raw footage into a memory video of Woody, which I will be delivering many copies to Woo tommorrow or Tuesday. I am still in shock. I learned more from Woody in 5 minutes than any book or dvd could ever teach. I will miss him

For those keeping up with this Thread there will be a tribute show at the Carolina Close up Convention in Charlotte, NC for Woody .... I believe the coordinators are asking for anything media to help memorialize Mr. Landers.
See ya Real Soon! |
