I had the pleasure of meeting Matt during the Session Convention. Some of the small little ideas, routines, gags: such as a torn and restored selected joker and a D'lite attention grabber where fantastic. I can't believe I came in late.
He'll be at the Alakazam stall at Blackpool, go bug him for a new DVD! In terms of Party Animal, there is not one effect, I would skip over, cannot say that very often. If your reading perhaps Shrinkage would work well with Joker, jumping off the card into their hand?

I recently bought this DVD set because of the positive feedback on this post. I do most of my magic performing tableside at restaurants.
I was hoping to find some usable closeup routines that would work for me in that venue. I had high expectations based on the positive feedback on the Magic Café. I was more than pleasantly surprised with these DVDs. I will use much of this material! It was exactly what I was looking for! I love the format, with REAL WORLD reactions in REAL WORLD situations. I look forward to putting my spin on some of these routines and trying them out. It has given me some new ideas too! Congratulations Matthew on a job well done! I am looking forward to seeing more from you. |

Party Animal has something special going for it: it gets better over time. You go back and something you saw that didn't register hits you over the head and you go WOW!
One of the all time greatest DVD sets!

The effects on the DVD and lecture notes are far beyond your abilities. (They require mastery of the mechanic's grip.) It would only break your heart. Sincerely, Darwin Ortiz.......(This post has got to be in my top 5.) |

Wow...thanks again guys...I'm getting a REALLY big head here.
As a research thing, so that I know what you would all appreciate on the next DVD, would you like to see some of the marketed tricks that I do and my presentation etc? Its just in the past I have been inspired by DVDs to start doing some marketed effects that I would have never considered before and they have stayed in my repertoire ever since and I think that is always worthwhile. I mean, it wouldn't be overloaded with them...more like a bonus thing. Also, I am thinking about putting my ambitious card routine on there because I have some interesting (I think) ideas on that. I would also like to include some performances of some things that I only did in explanation last time like the stick man jumping off the card and the best way to get into it. There was also my card in bottle which didn't actually appear anywhere except the demo reel. Its based on the "card to anywhere" principle but I'd like to show people the actual routine so you can see how I actually get it in there (I do it in bars and drinks receptions and its not pre-loaded). I'm afraid its probably going to be mostly cards again though. I do do a lot of non card stuff but most of it is not original enough to put on a DVD, and some of the stuff I just don't want to give away yet really. Anyway, look forward to hearing your views and opinions. Thanks again! M |

I matthew again (good name by the way)
yeah, bring it on mate! some marketed effects with your presentation would be great for a few bonus effects on each disc more card stuff is good to, FASDIU if possible a lot of your material from the first DVD set was perfect for strolling (in the hands, no tables), so can we have some more of that too please and if it is all filmed with you performing LIVE in the trenches again, even better! so yeah, more of the same please, with extras if possbile too please! why change such a winning formula! cheers mate matt |

I would LOVE to see Mathew's ACR.
And seeing some marketted effects that maybe some of us thrw in the drawer. Given the Dowden touch, we'd bring them back out again! And yes, good looking Birds being performed for. There's just something about English gals that...well...

Having seen Matthew in Blackpool I was surprised to find that he was a lot taller than I had thought from seeing him in the DVD. Well done Matthew.

Matthew- Your teaching style and take on effects makes it very worthwhile for you to teach some handlings of tricks that are likely sitting in some drawer. Breathing fresh life into them would be great and appreciated by many. (Though no doubt there will be bloggers who don't get the concept complaining about their inclusion, similar to the situation with your 1...14...24 DVD.)

Thanks John, I appreciate that. I am also thinking about including my multiple card selection ideas. Everything from 2 people to 12 or 13, although I don't normally suggest any more than that.
The main thing that I want to get out of filming Party Animal 2 (if that's what we call it) is to make sure its performed at big tables, or at least most of it. The thing is, I perform mostly at tables and I think, if I have one, that is probably my forte. I would really like to help people with their technique in approaching tables, keeping the full tables attention and getting the best reactions out of any trick. Anyway, thanks again. M |
