Hey guys.
So I just purchased a new jacket and escape from cannons. I purchased the Posey Regulation Jacket (ungimmicked) with roller buckles. And the Interrogation Cell Escape. SO, I will be going into the cell with the straight jacket on and.. you get the point. Now, my question is, do you think it would be a good idea to do a stand alone straight jacket escape FIRST, and get out, and THEN be placed back into the jacket and then into the cell? Just so spectators can see how difficult it is, and how difficult it will be inside the cell? Thought it was something worth bringing up. thanks.

Interesting thought ....
But once you have done an escape you are like saying "I can conquer that one" bring on the next. Something Kondini told me was that the next thing should out do the last. Not sure if what you suggest does that. May be it does. But if they have seen you escape from it once you have already "broken the mystery" of will he get out. Simply being put in a box may not help increase the difficulty??? What does anyone else think? |

Yeah I was thinking the same.
Il just do it once, and it will be inside the cell when I do it. Anything else to spice it up?

Maybe have some Chains wrapped around your arms the Ideals are Endless but what type of Audience do you usally perform for.

Nice idea.
I think it depends on who your audience is. Example: Last weekend was May Day bank holiday here in the UK and I worked the Victorian Extravaganza in Llandudno, North Wales. It's a 3 day outdoor event, and I did 3 shows a day. Day one I performed my usual sj escape as the finale for show one. For show two I changed it a little and did 100 feet of rope, never used it as a finale and I was really surprised at how well it was received. Actually had people come up and mention that they thought it was impossible... so that was pretty cool, anyway I'm waffling. Show 3 I did 50 feet of chain with some crude "cuffs" (a metal pole with chain on the ends, that are padlocked around the wrists) as my finale. Now on the second day I allowed the audience to "challenge" me. I set it up as an impromptu thing. Making suggestions of what could possibly take place. The finale of this show was an sj and 100 feet of rope. It worked out because the audience was led to believe it was their idea... I know I'm a cheeky monkey Show 2 of the second day ended with a double sj escape... again going along the same lines as the previous one. Show 3 I had the double sj and the 100 feet of rope. I think you get the idea. By the last show of day 3 I had both sj's on, the 100 feet of rope and the 50 feet of chain. It WAS the only escape I did in the whole 30 minute show. It also proved a very successful way of drawing in a massive crowd. Now, most of the people that were at the event were the same people for the whole 3 days. My audiences consisted of many people that had seen all my escapes and they really went for the slow build of making it more difficult over the course of the weekend. I'm not too sure if this type of thing would work in a structured environment. Or indeed if I'd done what was essentially an sj escape 9 times in a row over the space of an hour or so's performance. But it did work as a progressive thing for the 3 day weekend. I was also the only ea that was at the event, although it could've worked as a challenge bewteen two ea's... that would've been quite fun actually. My act is also not solely escapes. I do things like human blockhead and a few tricks like rat pack and a smash and stab effect to break things up a little. It was so successful that I had people asking if I'd be at next years event as they had some ideas of how to restrain me We're hopefully going to put together a challenge act for next year's event and allow people to bring their own stuff for me to use. Anyway, what I'm trying to illustrate is that in the right context it is possible to do what is essentially one escape with little twiddly bits added on to it for the same crowd and it be a success. But I think it seriously depends on the situation you're in and as I said earlier I don't think it'll fit in to a structured escape show for the reasons that Dave brought up. Hope this waffle makes some sense to someone, and if you did understand it and would like to translate it for others please feel free. Ros

I would vote no on the 'warm up' run with the jacket. I think most are likely familiar enough with that to know that the confines of the 'cell' make that tougher. And if they don't know it....they will when they see how hard you are struggling, right?
The 'cell' looks great. I don't have one but if I did I rather imagine I would knock it over during the jacket escape inside, before reaching to do the door locks. Have fun! Post a video!
"What's your drug?" she asked. "Hope" he said, "The most addicting one of all."

Will do.
You would knock it over intentionally? or just from sheer movement alone?

Either way,
I have a custom ATA case being made for this, and as it follows, I will be put in a non gimmciked Posey Roller Buckle jacket, placed inside the cell, And a new addition that mark made for me, my neck will be chained and padlocked to a clamp that's welded into the floor. the cell door will then be shut and locked with combo lock and the T bar lock. Sound good!?

Knock it over by accident, making an appropriate noise as it falls.

Ok,
So the escape arrived. it looks GREAT! basically, I am put in a posey regulation jacket (roller buckle) and put inside the prisoner Interrogation cell (PIC) And my neck is then fastened to the floor of the cell via an American Lock (gimmicked). Then the door is shut, pad locked, and t bar locked. Voila. THing is, how do I make it exciting? I don't want spectators just bored watching me inside move around. How can I add a show to it? Thanks for your help.

Richard,
No! I ain't sellin' this! Still using it! I am no longer doing it with a SJ, though. I go inside it with a mail bag. Still looking for that element of suspense, though.
