Thanks Howard for the tip. However, I did contact Bob Little and he told me he does not have any Flash Bills. So, I'm still looking for a good source for some realistic looking Flash Bills. Anyone have any ideas as where to look?

I would like to know as well. Nothing like having money to burn.

I know how you can make a real bill light on fire and not burn. You use a mixture of water and isopropyl alcohol. So the water prevents the bill from burning, but the alcohol burns off.

The bills by "Pyrowizard" are pretty good looking ( http://www.mjmmagic.com/store/flash-bill......b3d077bb ), but be sure to get the face version rather than the back design version (which looks like play money). Most of the bills I've seen recently are one sided, but I use a folded bill (for John Carney's Calligraphic Cash) so the one sided design is all I need. The bills these days are very pricey (usually $3 - $4 per bill). You might have better luck making your own, scanning and printing directly onto flash sheets, but be careful not to run the sheets through a hot printer (for obvious reasons ). Inkjet is a better bet than a laser printer.

Wow those pyrowizard ones look great! I have some sheets of flash paper and an ink jet printer (flash paper is the same size as normal paper 9x5 maybe?) Do you know how I could print bills this way? I don't have a design...

How about scanning a bill, then printing on flash paper. Let me know how it works. Perhaps your printer will go up in a flash?

You have to be careful due to the fact that flash paper is flamable. I am not sure how hot printers get, but I heard a story about a guy that tried to make his own and he used the wrong printer.
It set the flash paper on fire and the whole printer was ruined. So be careful when trying to do this. |

I don't have a scanner I'll probably just drop the funds for those nice ones, I can use regular flash paper when I practice and half a bill for the performance

Has anyone tried printing on flash paper using a HP Ink Jet Printer? If so, what were the results?

In USA it would be illegal to make copies of real bills on any paper. To play it safe use play money. "Better Safe Than Sorry."

Yeah, it may technically be illegal....but come on.
This is what you do; you scan one side of a real bill, print it out on regular paper using a quality color printer (if you only print a one sided bill it would be difficult to ever accuse you of counterfeiting), cut it out, cut it in half, fold the half in half. Then you take a piece of flash paper, fold it up to about the size of a postage stamp and slide it into the middle of the folded gaffed bill. Use a small bit of wax to keep it in place and position it towards the end of the bill half that you will be lighting on fire. When you light the bill, the real paper will only burn for a second before the flash paper ignites and makes it appear like the whole bill is exploding in flame. What you do from there is up to you. I personally stuff it in a TT and reveal the restored borrowed bill.

I really wouldn't try printing your own. The flash paper does it's job, but the ink used keeps burning and leaves an aweful residue!
I guess you are wanting US Dollars. The only ones I've come across are UK Sterling and ar very poor looking. I still use ordinary flash paper and do a bill switch. Call me old fashioned, but it works. |

For the cost, you can burn real money.

Here is what I did. I used my scanner and opt for the copy function. I simply copied one side of a bill. I took the copy and taped flash paper over the area where the bill was printed. I placed it back into the printer and copied it again. This time the bill was printed onto the flash paper. I then cut out the bill. I might add that I have a ink jet printer and that does not create any heat. There is little difference between the way plain flash paper bunrns and the way a flash bill burns.

I did some calculating as to the cost of flash bills. If you go to MJM Magic, you can purchase a package of 4 sheets of flash paper 8"x9" for $9.70. You will be able to get 12 flash bills from that package. That brings the cost of the bills to about $.88 per bill. This is of course not including the cost of the printer or toner.

I would think that putting flash paper in your printer would be dangerous...
