The post on boxes for your magic kits gave me a fun and interesting idea for a post that could be a HUGE benefit to us all depending on how many people want to take part in it. The idea is this:
Let us come up with a sort of informational guide of urls or locations for items we most often use for kid shows. This does not really mean magic tricks or effects. What I am thinking of is a list of those items we all tend to use for kid's shows and share URLs here. This way we could really start to generate a great resource. For example someone may have a great price and url for boxes. Someone else may have a great resource for travel style bags or cases for your magic. These types of things could be agreat to share here openly with each other. Hope people like the idea and decide to chime in. I will add some of my own once I locate the websites again. Kyle

I don't have too much experience with kids parties, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I have found that it's more important to orient your presentation to your spectators than your tricks. I also give this advice when people ask what to perform for girls, in church, or to a potential employer.
There are certainly some tricks that are catered for children (i.e. Card-Toon) and others that simply work better (i.e. visual things like D'Lites), but I think it's most important to make your presentation fit for kids. In that vein, I just finished a book full of advice that would be great for kid shows. I highly recommend Eric Mead's Tangled Web, which can be found here: http://www.vikingmagic.com/?nd=full&key=1391

Well then, let's get going with two decent sources for inexpensive give-aways:
http://www.rinovelty.com & http://www.orientaltrading.com.Both have everything from glow sticks to those terrible sticky things I refuse to buy for my daughter anymore. Now, where can I get a decently priced case for my Strat-o-Sphere? Peace, Vinny |

There is a site called cases and more where I got a nice case on a closeout. Here is the link to the item I got. It has served me well and they ship fast.

If you fly to do shows, then I highly recommend the Porter Case.
Here's the one I bought: http://www.portercase.com/standard.htm Basically, the case is a carry on that also acts as a luggage cart. Even if you don't fly, this is a very handy case, as you can put up to 200 pounds on top of it. By the way, I bought the case from "Cases and More", as they have better prices on them. (Porter Case told me this....now that's customer service)!

Great stuff guys. This is exactly what I was hoping to get. If we all pitch in here, we can create quite a great list and resource for things from cases for your magic to where to get novelty items to inexspensive printing. I think this can become a great resource of information to help us all.
For inexspensive novelty items you can also look at us toy company. For good prices and quick turnaround times on printing, check out http://www.overnightprints.com DoodaD: Thanks so much for that tip on the cases. That one is incredible and at that price you can not go wrong. I have been looking for a case like that for some of my kid show magic props. This would be perfect for that. Great stuff. Keep them coming guys. This is great so far. Kyle

Here are sources for great Elope hats (animals, birthday cake for kid's head, inside-out-frog-to-prince hat, even inside-out magician hat to rabbit) - kid volunteers love being dressed up in these . . .

Forgot a good one for the Magician Helper stickers, the magician "crime scene" tape (Magic Zone), and "appearing wand" giveaways (100 for $60 - about as cheap as they can be found)

Simply great stuff here Mumble. thank you so much to everyone for posting their kid show information and urls. I think this can become a very useful thread packed with ideas and suggestiions for those things every kid show performer uses and may need.
in fact it has already helped me as I just ordered a case (listed above) this morning. I had been really wanting a new case for some of my large kid show props and this was the best answer at the right price. I think posting our finds and tips here can only help us help each other. Kyle

Just for everyones' information, the case at Cases and More is in limited supply. I first made a post on this case a few months ago and about 40 were sold to magicians here. Mumblemore recently got one and is very happy with it. last time I checked, a couple of months ago, there were about a hundred left. Once these are gone.....you wont find it for this price. Due to a cancelled order these became available at this low price.
I purchased two of them, as I know a few others did also. I don't have any affiliation with this company, nor do I profit any from the sales. I just happened upon it while searching for a prop case and wanted to pass the great deal onto others. You will be happy with this case. If you want more info feel free to ask me or others who own one of these. John |

John:
Thank you my friend. I ordered one yesterday and it should work out great for my needs. If I like it, I may get another one. You can not beat what you are getting for that price. Thanks again. This is what I hoped this thrread would become. An area for us all to help each other on the items kid show performers use most and where we can find these items. Share your secrets and your tips. Glad I could help. I'm going to predict that you'll buy a second. I myself am considering a third. John |

I took John's advice and bought one. Once it arrived, I ordered a second. It's an awesome case that holds a lot. As Kyle mentioned, for the price, you can't go wrong. It even fits old shaped props like Wolf's Recombobulator. I might even order a third!!!

Great information John. As a graphic designer, I use overnightprints.com a lot as the printer I send my design clients to. They make it easy for me and my magic clients because I can set up my final designs right to their own template specs and that makes it very easy for uploading. They do great prices and great turnarund time. I also like their quality as I am very p[articular in the quality that I want for the design work I do for my design clients. Good stuff for sure and thanks for letting me know about the sale going on now.
If anyone has any other printers or information sites you use directly to help you with your kid shows, that is the information we are sharing here openly. URLs and links that can help any kid show performer to acquire things we use and need most often. Great sharing so far. Thanks guys and let us build to the list. Kyle

For magnets, go to the Super Magnet Man (http://www.engconcepts.net/) who is much cheaper and offers much more variety than magic dealers. Thanks tpax for the great tip.

I have found that the Instand Tables make absolutely ideal side tables:
http://www.instand.com/CR3/cr3.html They go up super-fast and the thin tabletops take up almost no room at all. In addition, the tops fit perfectly on the side of the Cases and More Rolling Travel Case mentioned earlier: http://www.casesandmore.com/asp/show_detail.asp?sku=TZ1075 Also you can order the easy-to attach arm and extra top which gives you another smaller lower-placed table top to attach behind the visible table top to give you an extra space for props, tape recorder, etc. The legs come in a leatherette case and fit perfectly on the packed case diagonally. The rolling case and Instand tables make a great combinataion that will leave you room for many other props.
