I just realized that the list you gave were band names, I thought it was a list of songs these Demon Hunters sing or scream.

No slipknot is not a christian band. That is one of the many reasons I dislike underoath.

-Okay, I'm adding 'Underoath' to my list of bands that we don't like. I must confess I tend to listen to guys like Willie Nelson and Tom Petty. I'm still waiting for Kevin to answer about Larry Norman. Man, next someone will say Mike Warnke wasn't being truthful in his comedy routines.

Music is in the ear of the listener. What bands are Emo what groups are punk? What's the difference between Hardcore and Screamo? MOR and AC, why define who is what and why? You like it? Listen to it. You don't? Then don't.
Should we define and put someone down for what they listen too whether we like it or not? We might as well put people down for their hair cut then. Pick on them about the way they dress and what they eat. In the end...Who Cares? We all die anyway The only song Gene Simmons ever bought the rights for KISS to perform was "God Gave Rock and Roll to You" by the Christian band Petra. POD opened for Kid Rock, it got them on a Natioal and Global platform, Religious youth leaders were irritated because they wanted their kids to see a Christian band but not the headliner, but it helped POD get where they are today. To paraphrase Underoath, If your a believer and like what you hear GREAT, if you are here just because you like our music GREAT! A lot of the bands on your list play Van's Warp Tour, Taste of Chaos and the ilk, it is getting them to a broader audience then striking out on their own ever would. Two of the members of Living Sacrifice (the last line-up) went onto Norma Jean the drummer went to Evanescence just some boring facts from someone who has followed T&N since it was founded

If you like classic heavy metal (in the Iron Maiden/Queensryche/Judas Priest type of mode), some other Christian bands you may enjoy:
Barren Cross Sacred Reich Saint
"Torture doesn't work" lol
Guess they forgot to tell Bill Buckley. "...as we reason and love, we are able to hope. And hope enables us to resist those things that would enslave us." |

I would like to thank the bald and snarling x-treem for making me feel old cuz other than the name Gene Simmons I've no clue what or who he is talking about.
I checked and no one knows who the people in Slipknot are so we cannot assume they are not Christians just because their music is rather interesting. |

I like their older stuff. Not so much a fan of the new.

Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

Ms: How about Peter Gabriel, The Police? Drop into the 70's Strawberry Alarmclock, Iron Butterfly, 60's Troggs, Zombies, Turtles, Older I listen to The Inkspots and Bell Sisters. No I'm not talking about Religious just music in general.
Lobo for Religious metal from the 80's and 90's go with Deliverance, it does not get much more old school than that.

But Dio was particularly excellent in their belief system. Also King Diamond has his good points. A little too conservative for my taste.....

I was extremely dissappointed when I went to see Black Sabbath (they had the word Sabbath in their name, must be Christian right?) and Dio was singing rather than the beautiful and kind Ozzie Osbourne. The Tshirt was killer though, had three angels smoking and the lyric "The world is filled with kings and queens who blind your eyes and steal your dreams, it's heaven and heck".
I'm still waiting for Kevin to answer the Larry Norman question... |

Larry Norman sang what was called at that time Jesus Music. What I have been trying to say is that Gospel music is a 'style' of Christian music.
We have done events with Larry Norman...he is still a great performer, very funny on stage. Hilarious to hear him sing his own songs, while people think he is covering other bands...LOL Kevin

Dio always struck me as an agnostic or a secular humanist. Never heard him comment about it directly, but that's the sense I get from his lyrics -- good, evil...it all comes from people.
With respect to Sabbath, I saw them with Ozzy, and I saw them with Dio. I like them a lot both ways (maybe because it's all about Tony Iommi?!) Some of my favorite Sabbath songs are with Ozzy - Children of the Grave, Paranoid, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, Warning, The Wizard - but I have to say that if I could only own one Sabbath CD, it would be Heaven and Hell, with Dio on vocals.
