One of my top shows is a story from start to finish. A one-man pantomime, if you like, the story links the various routines and gives wonderful continuity. I have received lots of praise for this show, as it's unlike anything anyone else is doing. Strangely for me, Strat-O-Sphere is one of the most popular effects. The kids adore my presentation, and I have them in fits of laughter from start to finish. And often, even the adults can't figure out how it's done! I love story magic, and would generally be happy to try most things out.
Things I wouldn't do:
Most IT tricks, unless the working means the thread just can't be seen from any angle.
Tricks/routines that are too "old" for the age group.
Tricks/routines that are too "young" for the age group.
I find that the majority of effects can be used if enough thought and practise is given, and sometimes alterations of the props are necessary.
