Not new ... but what a tremendous comedy series, which lasted 11 years.

I believe only the Simpsons has such a long run ... could be wrong.
Anyone else out there like the series?

Well, each of us are different. I never watched "Married with Children", nor have I seen "The Simpsons" (I have seen some clips of several shows, but never watched an entire episode). As to length of shows, however, Gunsmoke (one of my favorites) is the leader at 20 years (1955-1975) with 635 episodes. I think the Simpsons just aired episode No. 400; so they have a ways to go. Glad you enjoy both of those programs. I knew somebody had to.

In the age of the dysfunctional family, Married With Children gave us at least something to laugh at about it. Al will always be my hero.

I love that show.

In fact, I sometimes quote Al as my role-model. Gets me a lot of laughts.

It sure gave shoe salesman some needed respect.

When I was little, I was too young to understand the show, but my parents would watch it. So I'd walk around the house singing the theme song, and when the show would come on, I'd shout, "Mom! Dad! Love and Marriage is on!"

Of the six listed above, Mash does fit into the comedy slot and did last for 11 years.

I'm watching Married with Children right now and have 5 shows saved on my DVR.

Wow, Andini. That freaked me out. A lot. I would do the EXACT same thing. It was years later before I learned the real name of the show.

I used to watch this first time they showed it in the UK (late 80s I think, perhaps early 90s). Saw a sizable re-run a couple of years ago and, whilst it was a bit hit and miss at times, it mostly stood the test of time and had me laughing a lot. I also noticed a few actors that I didn't know first time round - two I remember seeing were David Boreanas (Angel, Bones) and Matt Le Blanc (Joey from Friends, Joey from Joey ).

A good show for lots of reasons.

We need to recall that the show broke several TV norms. Today, that type of nasty humour is mainstream. Back then, it was different. A slut sister that is making fun of her brother`s miserable sex life . . . that was something different.

Although many people make fun of FOX (including FOX themselves) I always have enjoyed what they had on whether it be "Married With Children" or "The Simpsons."

As for "The Simpsons" having a long run, they have been on for 18 years. They are the longest running prime-time animated series (beating "The Flintstones" by over ten years) and the second longest running comedy program behind "Saturday Night Live."
