I ended up purchasing a cart to help me move my magic gear. I found a Rubbermaid 3-1 platform truck. What I like about it that it can move a lot of heavy gear and it only weighs 25 pounds.

I just bought a 15-watt Crate Taxi TX15 PA, which runs on an internal battery, and a Samson Airline 77 wireless headset. I was out the door for about $475.

The PA has a lower wattage than what I wanted, but I really couldn't spend any more. I put the bulk of my money into the headset thinking that I could step up to a larger PA later when I needed to.

The TX15 is a nifty little unit, but it was built in China and the solder on it is not quite as beefy as it could be. When I worked as a factory tech for Crate we would regularly resolder any of them we saw and then secure the pots with silicone caulk. It'll take a competent tech less than an hour (closer to 15 minutes) to do and it will save you from crackly pots and dropped signals in the very near future. If you feel handy with a soldering iron then do it yourself; it is extremely easy. We considered it "hangover work." Skip the 30 and go straight to the TX-50 "Limo" when you are ready for an upgrade.

The Mackie forum administrator say June 24th... I am waiting very patiently!

The most recent post (June 1st) from a Dealer said, "I checked on our order for the SRM 350's yesterday. My Mackie rep told me late July." Now, I don't know if that SRM 350 is a typo or did he ask about the 350 and not the 150?

Looks like the 50 watt Taxi is back in production? I thought that item was discontinued. Looks like it's now back at musiicansfriend.com but many days to delivery. Anybody know the scoop about this amp? Also, can you hook two together like you can the Carvin Stagemates?

I opened up my speaker to fix the solder last night and it had already been done! Also, all of the larger components on the circuit board had been caulked...so, I guess someone else is continuing your legacy Michael!

I'm in the process of connecting my Samson reciever (currently A/C only) to the 12-volt battery in the Crate, so I can be completely free of cords and A/C. This was an ingenious idea that I got from Bobby (BAH1313).

My father spent his career working with electronics and is my wingman on the project, so I'm feeling pretty confident that the surgery will be a success.

Why would you think you cannot hook a wireless mike to it?

Do you need to do more than solder one wire to each side of the battery terminals and then have those run into the appropriate DC connector and into the wireless receiver?

That's what I'm picturing, anyway.

The connection was done in-line as opposed to at a termimal. The wire is from a second A/C cord with 12-volt transformer purchased at Radio Shack. I didn't want to use the one that came with the receiver. That way I still have an A/C option.

My father suggested that I drill a hole and use a grommet to allow the wire passage out of the cabinet. Time ran out so it's just passing through an air vent slot and secured with electric tape.

The system worked without flaw. I used velcro tape to secure the receiver to the speaker and put some eyescrews into the side of the speaker cabinet so I could chain & lock it to something else. It's really just a visible deterent though, as opposed to a good anti-theft system.

I ran the system on and off from 11:00-3:00 without any problems on Sunday. However, that's only half the time of the battery at a low volume. So, I don't know yet if the receiver is going to have a major effect on battery life or not. I doubt I'll be using it more than 4-5 hours at a time though. So, I think that will be a non-issure for me.

I use the Bose S1 Pro. It has by far the best sound quality out there. Even at high volumes the sound doesn't distort. One speaker can easily play for over 300 people outdoors. It is battery powered also which makes it very portable.

Eleven hours of battery play time are mentioned when fully charged. It is bluetooth.

The cost is pricey compared to other speakers. But it is worth it.

I have one of the old ones I bought in 2001. It has a particle board housing, making it rather heavy. The newer ones have a blow-molded enclosure, making them very light. I could swear that a powered speaker was sold for it, but I never bought one. I'm on my third battery because I change them out every 8-10 years, for the sake of reliability.
