Well, I'm new here, Im a magician and animal lover, (just the proper amout of course) LOL, well, here is the thing, I have a Rabbit, a Parakeet and a Baby duck, all of them very well behaved and already in my special shows, I just use them for show when they seem in the mood for it and they seem to enjoy the atention, well, I haven´t found a lot of stuff for my parakeet, and I'm looking to add more parakeets to my act, also I love them as pets, they´re great, I had only found the parakeet gizmo which I'm hoping to get soon enough, other than that I produce my parakeet from a change bag, dove pan and bags that I made for her, same thing for the duck, what could I do with him? now is really small, a duckling, so I produce him from a chicken pan, that´s it, but what about when he get´s bigger? can he be trained to pick cards or a comic routine? i´ve heard about putting him on a RC vehicle and stuff like that?
so... any ideas for parakeets or ducks? And any ideas for duck training for stage? By the way, I had been developing already some stuff for parakeets with good results, PM me if you are interested Thank you guys! |

Blackstone had a duck tub for larger ducks, available in a lot of magic books and a few magic dealers sell one, though it isn't hard to make. If it can be done with doves it can be done with parakeets, you might have to size down an item or two, but generally that is pretty easy. Also appearances and vanishes that can be done with larger rabbits can be done with ducks too.

Ducks are very easy to train and can recognize a mark or position for selecting a card, color, etc. (And I think they actually enjoy it!)
I'm not very optimistic about parakeets although I tried them for about four years before giving up. I certainly don't suggest taking them out of their cages or containers. They also are sickly travelers. Lungs are a common problem of parakeets on the road. Ducks are also more loyal and perhaps smarter. Enjoy! Bob Sanders Magic By Sander |

I recently built a deceptive wash basin based on the principle used in my translucent appearing candy bowl in the Dollar Store Magic article "Invisible Candy/Cookie Jar" (on my site). It never occured to me until I read your post (because I never worked with a duck before), but that same principle could be used to make a nice translucent duck tub for a small duck production. The translucent plastic wash basin I used came from a Dollar Store, so this won't be expensive if you want to try it out.

Thanx spell, I think I'm gonna check that out, not really familiar with that tub stuff, but I'm gonna get info about that, I think that might work, and Bob, do you know where I can obtain some information about proper duck training? that would be real help, if you want some tips about parakeet training and stuff, maybe I could help a little, I found out I seem to be training them, I carry them all day perched on shoulder and works great on my act, not cage needed at all (but sometimes I use a cage, just in case) PM me if interested, and I would apreciate the information about duck training, same for you spell binder, thnx a lot!
