In all seriousness now, one high on my list, and one that I don't think has been mentioned yet, is McDonald's Aces. To lay spectators it is pure magic.

Green's - Laser Deal
Is that classed as a trick?
If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

I give a second to Blizzard. Very strong. A good ACR to impossible location is pretty killer too ;-)'

Wow, so many different answers!
Let me know when we've figured out which one is the best. For the record, I think the best card trick is the pass...

This is like comparing apples to oranges. To me, the best card trick is which ever one that I perform that gets the best reactions. Believe it or not, with all simplicity aside, "Do As I Do" gets great reactions, but my all time favorite is Brother John Hamman's "Twins".

In my repetoire, I've narrowed it down to Invisible Deck, Ambitious Card, Cards Across, and Ultimate Truth.

Comparing the comparison of two things that are so dissimilar as to be incomparable to the comparison of apples and oranges is like comparing . . . well, you get the idea. |

Hard to say which is "best". My favorite plot is Triumph but I'd have to say that Card Warp may be the "best" trick because it's a real fooler, doesn't require anyone to take a card, and is SO UNLIKE ANYTHING a layman would think of when you say "card trick".

I would also add Michael Close's "Frog Prince" as a strong contender for The Best.

Frog Prince is an amazing trick...
For me the best has to be Homing Card, Fred Kaps version. I've given this game a lot of thinking, analyzed it so many times. To the audience it's pure magic. And to me, it's one of the most beautiful effects in magic. For the acting, technique (so simple but yet looked so natural in his hands), this looks to me as pure magic. When you see him, you can't help but being trapped by his charm and charisma, and he does it at the right tempo, using the right words, wit and jokes. For me, it's the perfect example when technique and presentation bond and create a work of art. Antonio |

I echo a comment above - so many different answers. Certainly, the world has moved on. As times change, also the preference of tricks.
Apologies for not being specific - a best trick for me is a trick that gets me the strongest reactions from the audience, while I am very comfortable presenting it. This is actually reflected by Magicanguy4life who pointed out the exposure risk. In short, the best trick is your reputation maker. We can of course also start to differ between your best tricks for a magician audience and a lay audience - are you a laypersons magician or a magician`s magician? Andy
