Well, I have gone to meetings before and booked shows with a 100% success rate with them.
I have a meeting coming up with an entertainment company about doing a show in China around Christmas time. This is quite a big deal for me, obviously... So I want to impress him. Usually to meetings I bring: photos, posters, head shots, reviews, promo video, a trick to show, business cards, postcards and newspaper clippings. What else should I bring, or does anyone have any good ideas on how to impress this guy, and book the show? All help is greatly appreciated! Another thing, the show will be held in a large theatre in Shanghai, with a few other magicians, like a variety show I guess. I have never traveled this far before and such, so I was wondering if someone could PM me, and help me on things like what to charge etc... Thanks! Sam |

Do you need a VISA to enter the country? What about shots? If there are any animals in your act, what about quarantine issues for importing them into the country?

Make sure you know the location of your countries closest Embassy and register with them when you get there. If anything (hopefully, a remote chance) happens and you need to be found, they know where to start.
Have a great trip! Mark. |

One thing I will say is also research them as well. there are a LOT of scams going on and you do not want to be the next one. So just make sure everything is legit and on the up and up first.
Then do not sell him so much on everytthing you do as you do sell him on your personality and professionlism. Sell him on what you can directly do to solve his problems that he is faced with. Be a solutions provider. Kyle

Hi Sam,
Quite a few of us have been contacted by this same agent/person. I am not exactly sure what he is looking for or what this is all about. It may very well be legitimate or it may not. Play it careful and good luck. All the best, Rob |

I know he has contacted a few people, and I'm aware to lookout for a scam.
I'm headed to Toronto anyways to pickup some materials at TCH, so it's not really a wasted trip. Thanks to everyone who has PM'd me, it is much appreciated. Is there anything I should lookout for, or find out, to assure it it legitimate? Thanks again, Sam |

Hey Sam,
The phone number they give you is a cell phone, not an office phone. Also, from what I can understand (related to me by some one who had the meeting, I did not set one for myself when Perry called)they give different dates orally then they do on their written flyer, which gives little or no information. Their business cards are off of a computer and not professionally printed. They want to know a price before they tell you the number of shows, length of show, what is expected in the show etc... and they do not ever give this information. Their web site (address they'll give you)apparently doesn't work. Off the cuff, my spidey senses are tingling. Again, they may be legit, but my 25+ years in this business (including performing coast to coast to coast in Canada ((yes, we have 3 of 'em))and international tours) says something seems off here. Hope I'm wrong and it works out well for you if that's what you want. All the best, Rob |
