Finding the right music for an act is very important and I'm sure it's not easy for anyone. Imagine if you where deaf.
That's the situation I'm in right now. I was wondering if there is a service available to create music to fit an act. I'm having a rally hard time with this because I have to put total trust in someone to pick my music. What I need is to describe and maybe make a video of me performing an act. Then put all my trust into someone to find (or create) the right music for the act. Is there anything or anyone you suggest? Ron Jaxon |

Ron -- you might contact Mike Close for this -- his magic and taste in music are impeccable. I am not sure what he would charge -- but your dedication to the art and special circumstance may offer him the type of challenge he grooves with.

Depending on the style and if you'd be willing to come to Windsor, Ontario to meet up, I could do it for you (and at a special rate I won't mention here).

I have found that instrumental music works best, as opposed to music that has lyrics. For example, I use the theme song to Mission Impossible for my opening act and it's effect is amazing on the audience. Easily recognizable, engaging, with a nice ending.
"There's no limit to what one man can accomplish, as long as he's willing to let someone else have the credit." (These words were inscribed on a small brass plaque which sat on President Ronald Reagan's desk in the White House during his second term.)

Thanks everyone.
I think I found my solution for this particular act. But keep the suggestions coming because I might need it for future acts. Sean Bogunia is going to help me out with this. We're friends, He's a great performer and he knows my performing style. So I'm confident he'll find what will work. Up until now I mainly only used magic in one a few parlor type acts and I really didn't need to know the music. it just had to have the right feel for it. For example a slow song for the Floating Rose. IF you ever see me use music in a parlor type show the songs will be old ones. At least from the early 90's or before because I could hear back then so I remember some songs. Easier for me to go with it if I've heard it before. It's a scary feeling to use music that really fits an act. Because I have no idea how to move to it if you can imagine. I can hear a little. If it's really loud I can pick up some taps of the drums and maybe a few hums of the bass. I often put my hand on a speaker to get a feel for music. Just feeling the beat can be helpful. But if it has words I'm lost on this part. I only get the rhythm of the music. Thanks again. Ron Jaxon |
