Does anyone have a link to an online video performance of this illusion? All I have seen are single still photos of it, one of Mark Kalin & Jinger, and in this month's Magic magazine, a photo of Bob Higa presenting it. I'd love to see the full presentation.

I don't know of any links but I did see it live in Reno at the Kalin and Jinger show.
I was not impressed, this is another variation on the Origami illusion, fold someone into a space too small for someone to fit in. The other people sitting around us were wispering to each other asking what was supposed to be happening. The finale didn't produce much response. Kalin and Jinger had performed with their usual charm but the illusion itself is very weak.

That's a shame that you think that as I think its a very strong illusion in their hands. The audience that saw it when I did was not only mystified but entertained.

Heck yah! Thanks for the link. Its funny Mark lives about two hours away, have not seen the new illusion yet till now: My thought about the illusion ( from the poor camera angle) is the concept is very cool & extremely deceptive. It does seem to be a bit . . . . TALKY - Not a fan of the musical selection - but it is very deceptive / well done. Mark's show is very intimate. It might be why I feel it might not play so well on a large stage. But that's just my opinion.

Irish_matt, thanks very much for the link!
It was a real treat to finally get to see the Kalins in a regular show setting. Everything written about their chemistry onstage is true. Good thing that this wasn't a Copperfield show.....he would have smelled that bootleg camera all the way from the stage! |

I think the illusion looked good. I can only assume it looks better in person. But I am always concerned about whether or not these tricks play well in the banquet environment -- closer than most stages.

Op Art definitely looks good. Who manufactures this prop? Is it for sale?

Osborne has plan for this illusion.

I think eb02 and Banester are mistaken. The link has two illusions performed... the Wakeling Sawing and then Op Art. The Lance Burton DVD has the Kalins performing the Wakeling and I'm sure Osbourne sells said illusion plans. Op Art however is a new creation from Jim Steinmeyer. I'm sure the prop was made by one of the usual suspects.. Bill Smith, John Gaughan etc.

Hi! Op-Art was made by Willy Kennedy. Another great builder as Bill Smith!

Irish_Matt you are correct. I didn't watch enough of the posted youtube to see that there were two illusions.

Matt,
The plans for the Wakeling Sawing are in the Magic of Alan Wakeling. Robert |

I liked the illusion, I think to laymen it is puzzeling and magical. 61magic I know what you mean it might look like another origami effect, but as long as you do not perform op art and origami in the same show it should be ok. Just think of how many different types of sawing in half illusions are out there. Different strokes for different folks.

Op-Art is a very new illusion. There are no plans available. This is a Jim Steinmeyer creation, not Paul Osborne.
It must be purchased through builders authorized by Jim.
It's all in the reflexes.
