Depending on the size look into SKB cases at your local DJ supply house, blown plastic will take a licking and keep on ticking!!!!!!!!

For a medium size case, Get a used Saxophone or Trumpet case.
My kids play said instruments and I am always tempted to confiscate their cases! I would gut them and re-line them. They even have locks. They'd even look good on stage. Also, Camera cases are very good, though much more expensive. They are built to protect some very delicate equipment. They should do fine for magic props.

A lot of these cases look alike, but are radically different. For example, you can buy some very sturdy looking cases that are covered with sheet metal at Home Depot and other places that sell tools. These are NOT sturdy. They dent and break. A similar product from Ritz is very strong.
Also, the Pelican waterproof cases are tough as nails.

I would get something that will meet the carry on measurments. I would rather have to wear the same clothes everyday than be without my magic supplies.

But check the fire wallet, flash paper, color changing knives, liquids and a few other things!

>> Cheap cases that can take travel abuse...
Conflicting requirements, in my experience cases can take the abuse or be cheap but not both. I like pelican brand photo cases |

You can take a look at some tool cases from Home Depot or any other hardware store. I found one for around $20, and it has lasted me a long time.
"Mommy, what's that man doing up there?"
"He's putting on a Blindfold, my dear." "What's a Blindfold, Mommy?" "Something you wear so that you cannot see." "Why's he wearing one, Mommy?" "So that he can tell us what he's looking at." - |

From Personal Experience In The Music Business And Sending SKB Cased Instruments And Audio Equipment Around The World I Would Have To Say SKB Is One Of The Best.
Go To Their Web Site And Look Around. While Not Cheap You Will Get Value Received. Best, Vincent |

I go to Academy and get gun cases. They are lined with the foam that you can custom fit to your stuff. Really inexpensive and available in many sizes and shapes. Also Wal Mart currently sells a case made by Contico found in the automotive dept that has a tongue and groove lid for a very good fit that it exactly the dimensions for flying. I have flown with this case several times and it stands up to the typical banging and crashing that any airport subjects luggage to.
