Hey guys and girls,
Just wondering if anyone (primarily those in the UK, I'd have thought) have watched Andrew O'Connor's latest film, 'Magicians' (starring Mitchell and Webb) and, if so, would care to share any thoughts on it? Did you enjoy it? Is it 'accurate'/funny/silly/magical/cliched? Haven't seen much discussion of this at all; let's hear what you think about it. Cheers. |

Hi Daniel, thanks for replying. It's still playing in cinemas at the moment; probably out on DVD in a few months. Cheers,

I don't know about the new one, however I did see this one http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0188045/ which was fantastic, funny, entertaining and a really good movie that all magicians should watch.

Only the first five minutes of that particular film were worth watching.

I agree with Philemon. Otherwise, it was, for me, pitiful.

I purchased a used "Magicians" DVD for $20 based on recommendations for some other people. Someone was selling one brand new for over $300 on Amazon...so I thought I was getting something special. This was easily the worst movie I ever saw in my life...along with horrible acting. I wish I could have that 1 hour and 45 minutes of my life back.

Sounds like the year 2000 version isn't the finest film ever made. Wonder if the 2007 film is worth watching...?

I went to see it. Its pretty much what I expected. If you like Peep Show you will probably like it. There are a lot of UK magicians in it with Pat Page and Scott Penrose having larger parts. I'll probably buy it on dvd when it comes out only because a lot of my friends were extras during the filming of the magic convention.
I went to see it with my girlfriend and after we left the cinema she asked me if magic conventions were really like that... to which I replied "unfortunately yes"

I was looking forward to that movie, I wonder if it'll be available in North American anytime soon.
