Ok, so I wake up one morning about 2 1/2 months ago and I have a lump on my neck! I thought maybe I have the flu and my body's just fighting it. After 2 or 3 days still no change so I go to my primary care doctor and she prescribes me an antibiotic. After two weeks still no change. So they send me to an ENT (ears nose throat) doctor. He does a needle biopsy and no cancer to be found. The next step is to operate and take it out. So I have an operation and they take out this cyst that measured 4cm and another lymph node which was a little large then it’s normal size (2cm). The doctor said because of my age (35) and Quit smoking cigars over 2 years ago that it was probably a cyst but he was going to have it sent to the lab to be analyzed. Well I go to the doctor and he tells me and my wife that I have Squamous Cell Carcinoma. He says that both the cyst and the lymph node were cancer and he thinks that the primary location is somewhere else. The doctor performs an exam and is astonished that the lesion is just showing up on the left tonsil. He took a biopsy and within 3 days we confirmed that it was the primary location.
This has been a trying time for me and my family especially since my wife is 5 months pregnant (she’s got her hands full just with dealing with that). Through this time we have turned to God for healing and protection. I believe that in Jesus name I am Healed of Cancer and that by the time my treatments are over the doctors will confirm that same belief! The treatment is very rough (Chemo & Radiation) 5 days a week for the radiation and one day a week for the chemo. Tomorrow I will have completed my 3rd week. Which is the halfway mark; it’s six weeks in all. I have also been keeping a webcam journal from the very beginning since day 1 of treatment. I say a few words each day of how things are going and what I’m thinking. When I’m finished with treatments and completely healed I’m going to compile it as a movie and make it available for others that are going through what I’m going through. I ask you to keep me in yours prayers and any kind words can always be beneficial. I will keep you informed as things go on. Joe Rindfleisch

Sorry Guys For not updating!
I went through 9 weeks of chemo and radiation. Boy was it tough!! I'm about 5 months out and doing great. I go see the Dr. every month and I am cancer free. I started a new job (Ironically it's for 3 hospitals). I'd like to thank everyone who prayed for me. Since today is thanksgiving I can't help to think how thankful I really am. Joe Rindfleisch

Joe - fantastic news. It's always great to see that it doesn't have to be a death sentence. It's especially inspiring to those of us who are personally affected by this horrible disease.
