Fascinating!
I have never seen one of these be able to "fill in" shading. He colored large parts of LeBron's jersey with bold strokes, it seems. Maybe he just went back and forth with the line, and the speed made it appear that way.
My ex-cat was named "Muffin". "Vomit" would be a better name for her. AKA "The Evil Ball of Fur".

You were not aware that one can make drawings on an etch a sketch? Did you think it was used to serve drinks on?
There are some amazing etch a sketch artist and have been for many years, pretty much as long as they existed. |

After all, I myself still struggle with making a decent circle on the thing. C'mon man, give me a break.

I took the statement "I didn't even know this was possible!" as indication that you were not aware that people can do high levels of art on an etch a sketch. Once again it has been done for decades. Did you feel the item existed to make angles and squares? Don't jump on me because of your choice of words son. Your inability to perform something such as drawing on an etch a sketch does not limit others from doing so.

Magic Santa you cranky old fart, I'll bet there's a few things you don't know are possible...I didn't know you could shade like that, it was a great piece and now Doug thinks you know more than him...(is that possible?) If I didn't know you were my friend I'd have to call you a Pee Pee Hat.

Well daffydoug, thank you for the link, it was fun to watch. I have seen high-end etch-a-sketch drawings in the past, but I think there is nothing wrong with you stating that you "didn't even know this was possible". It is a unique skill to be able to use a children's drawing toy to such a high-level such as in that video, and I don't see why anyone would feel the need to be sarcastic towards you for not being aware of this. Thanks for sharing that.

I'm not being sarcastic I'm starting to wonder if the young man is on keel. Not being aware one can sketch on an etch a sketch?
Posted: Jun 13, 2007 8:45pm I shouldn't have been mean. I was raised in an artistic house so when I was a lil' fuzzy pumpkin we were doing pictures on the ol' etch a sketch and making spirals and blacking out the screen. I assumed anyone who had encountered one would have done the same. Seemingly I was wrong and I apologize to those not aware of the sketching aspect of the device. I don't know how to drive a stick, so now you know my shame, that and I can't juggle. |

Not being aware one can sketch on an etch a sketch? Thank you for the compliment. That's the first time I have been called young in a long time. Apparently you are not savvy to my age. I'm NO proverbial spring chicken. AGAIN, I am surely aware that one can sketch on an etch a sketch... to ingeminate, what I was not aware of was the capacity for creating extremely DETAILED works of art, complete with shading, perfect facial feature likeness, and minute lettering, as this man did. Geeeeeesh.

Doug Higley is right Magic Santa is always cranky. I also know that like me you have several grown children. Us guys who are always ready to crack a joke people just assume that we are younger. It's a good thing. Al Angello

So Daffydoug, what you didn't know you could sketch on an etch a sketch?
Magic is doing improbable things with odd items that, under normal circumstances, would be unnessecary and quite often undesirable.

What really makes these sketches truly fantastic is that they are ONE CONTINUOUS LINE!!! Of course, one shake of the box and it's gone forever. The only option is to start over at that point.
The last I heard, Ohio Arts, makers of the Etch-A-Sketch, were moving their production facilities from Ohio to China to save on production costs. But that was quite a while ago. If they did, perhaps they should rename themselves China Arts! The same rumor was floating around about the Lionel Train Co. Posted: Jun 14, 2007 1:47am http://www.michaelmcnevin.com/sketch.a The above link doesn't work for me. The link in the quote section is missing the .asp part

I remember an artist being on Good Morning America years ago and showing how to keep it from erasing.
