For you school show guys, do you use mostly copy on both sides of the postcards? Do you print the addresses (to-from) on your computer or apply labels?

Have you had better luck with postcards versus letters for a first round mailing for school shows? Thanks!

Nathan:

While I do not solicit school shows, I have had a good return on my postcard mailings elsewhere.

We all share the same feelings when it comes to unsolicited (junk) mail. There must be something very appealing about it or we quickly pitch it in the trash. If a company sends you an advertsiement in an envelope, what are the chances that you, or more specifically, your wife, will open the envelope and look at the contents?

School secertaries are deluged with junk mail all year long, from every fund raising company in existence, etc. So often, when our mailing comes along, it runs the risk of looking like the rest of the junk mail and is never opened.

Postcards can break that cycle, in so much as the recipient will usually glance at the darn thing as it begins it's journey toward the trash can. This is where we have one shot at placing a compelling message that makes that person slow down, absorb the message and hopeful react - by following up with a visit to our website and/or a call on the phone. Or, failing that, just making a conscious decision to save the postcard for future reference.

And I will also recommend the work of http://www.OvernightPrints.com . They have produced high quality results each time that I have used them.

OVERNIGHT PRINTS PRICING

Just noticed I'd missed the question of pricing.

Overnight Prints, and a few other companies have what's called Lucky Hit pricing.

If you just type in http://www.overnightprints.com and hit their website, you'll see the very overpriced pricing that has already been listed here.

However go to google.com
Type in: cheap post cards

The first paid result should be from Overnight prints.

Now look at their prices.

And just a note w/overnight prints - their price break is incriments of 4,000.

Knock yourselves out.

I found a site, where you can create your postcard by uploading your own text, pictures, etc. For $1000, postcards it is $60 and if you don't want to print with them, you can create your design, save it as a PDF and take it to any printer and have them print it.
