Excellent!
Anyone do any dancing with their puppets? It may sound silly but I am working on that as soon as I get the right music.

I use a couple unusual puppet things in my show. One is described in my first Linking Ring One Man Parade, June 2002, under the name "Gorilla". I use it to close my kids' show. If I may be less than modest, the Parade won Best of Year.

One of ther routines in abra is for christmas shows and it uses a chinese lantern box, you put as many sponge balls as you can in the compartment and the puppets tells you he has bought a new snow machine you show the box and you ask the puppet weres the snow hes says theve melted but its ok because he can make some more (you can use a volunteer) you do all the business whip off the silk and inside the box are lots of snow balls, red ones so you tell the puppet why are they red snows white! he says they got sunburnt!
I really like this. Matt |

Matt (or others),
I'm not familiar with the "Chinese Lantern Box." Do you have a source for this, or is it known by another name? Thanks, Tod P.S. Is this the kind of box you refer to, Matt? http://www.magictricks.com/closeup/spongebox.htm

Hi...I have been doing magic since 1988 but started forming a full vent act just this year...so far I have an Axtell drawing board which I use to open the act...I also have an Axtell Orangutan a Pelican and now a new Vern (thanks to Carlos Hampton)...also part of the act is my Card Picking Duck...my Vent Mask and my Grand Dad soft puppet and the closer would be Lou my hard figure...
Gonzo the orangutan does some silly Magic with a small rubber ball...while Troy the pelican sings...and Gabbie (Vern) does the stiffed rope trick "God is good all the time"

David Ginn has teamed up with Practical Magic of UK for a US release of Dog Arm Puppet for a very reasonable price of $95 including full sized puppet, DVD, and the Practical Magic "dog arm puppet" routine cards. This is a great trick, and for the price, you can't beat it . . .

I love David Ginn's catalog, and have purchased MANY things from him. He is awesome ! David is offering a nice deal with the mentalism cards included. It is nice folks won't have to wait to get the cards shipped from the UK, as I did several years ago.
The dog puppet has been available in this country for years through anyone who carries Folkmanis puppets(based in the USA). The price is usually around $40. If you just want the puppet, it can be had from a host of eBay sellers and online puppet vendors, some for as low as $35. I own four of these puppies, and have been performing with them for almost five years now (look to the left at my avatar, and you will see one). I have modified many of them to do different effects, and they go over great with the kids.... Mark
