Did a custom set of cups for Pete Biro. Pete was kind enough
to donate his only set to the C&B Curator. Just thought I would
give everyone a look at these since only 4 sets were ever produced
by the original Rings N Things when Pete had them spin them.

Jake... you did an awesome job of bringing these back to life. They have the perfect TOP (OK, it's the bottom) to hold the paper coil loads ala Ramsay.

I think the Ramsay routine (Like the Johnny Paul routine) has been overlooked or forgotten by the current generations.

For someone who wants to "get away" from the Vernon/Gazzo style sequences that everybody else is doing... these cups are the way to go.

Pete and Bill thank you for your kind words.

Pete, I want everyone to know that these particular cups are only here because you originated your style some years ago. We have Pete Biro to thank! Thank you Pete Smile

I also have to agree with you on Ramsay routine and the Johnny Paul routine, these are 2 wonderful routines which have been forgotten or lost in the archives for too long. Jake Jr. couldn't understand the cups until I showed him the Ramsay routine then they made sense to him, a chip off the ol' block Smile

Pete, thank you again for allowing us the oppertunity to bring these back and keep your cup style alive and well for the new generation to learn and enjoy.

Best

Very nice cups, Jake.

Pete, what make/size mouth coils are you going to use? I remember discussing this a while back with Tim Star who said that he'd found difficulty getting the right size paper coils for his cups.
I have six locks on my door all in a row. When I go out, I only lock every other one. I figure no matter how long somebody stands there picking the locks, they are always locking three. Elayne Boosler

Richard,
I'm working with a company to make coils specific to this size saddle. And if it's not feasible, I already designed a coil roller to roll your own coils.

I agree that the Ramsay (two cup) routine has geen greatly overlooked. It is now readily accessible to the magic community via the DVD set from Andrew Holloway....very clearly presented and explained....highly recommended.

As I recall, the cheap throw out coils in party stores fit perfectly. I hope they haven't changed the sizes. ARgh...

It's not that I'm cheap, but I use a silk winder and gold ribbon and re-roll while watching tv Smile If you go to Michaels you can get just the right width ribbon, I sew the ends together from each spool until I get the desired spool I want. The ribbon is cheap, usually on close out and you can mix and match colors if you like. Using a winder will suprise you how much ribbon you really can get in the top.

Jake, you are you at mylar coils? Got a way to manage those effectively?

Been wanting to take the cups and have them melt into a rain of mylar and gave up on using the winder that came with the coils long ago.

( folks, you need a topit or servante to manage this one )

Actually what I do is I have a spool I put on the lathe chuck I made to rewind the coils loosely. Then I sit and twist those buggers until they're tight. Another way to quickly spool them before winding them tight is to use the bobbin mode on a sewing machine, you just have to make a custom spindle to hold the special spool.

I haven't tried doing paper or mylar yet, but I think mylar would be ok to spool up as it has a stronger tollerance than paper. I use the silk ribbon because it holds up better for multiple uses.
