So if he wasn't paid when this post came out it should be easy to check. If he got paid after why didn't he say so instead of having people believe he hadn't been paid.

This whole thing with Richard has been 1 lie after another, Notice I didn't say 1 problem after another. I said 1 LIE after another..

I'm assuming this is a dead issue with NO CONSEQUENCES to either Richard or MagicBox?

Erm... so what'll happen to all of those who ordered???
Glad I stayed away from this that's for sure. Ive honestly never seen anything quite on this level when it comes to pre-ordering. It's bad enough that everyone has ha to wait sooooo long, but then to also be continuously lied to time and time again is just rediculous. If Richard was having trouble fullfilling orders due to the time it supposedly takes to make them then why not just let his customers know this, and if nothing has been despatched then why say otherwise lol... surely he didn't think no one would notice that there order never comes. If the item is not even being listed then perhaps MagicBox are also fed up with the lies and excuses that have been spewing forth from Richards mouth, but what happens with everyones money??? Even though none of this affects me, it's hard to see this as it's pathetic. |

Richard stated that he had made up 400 units, to cover the pre-orders, actually I guess he made 800 all totaled. I am only assuming since he made this many for the pre-orders, then that is what sold. I do not remember what price this went for, I am guessing around $20.00. It has been so long since I ordered it, I forgot.
Now do the math, and there is about $8,000.00 contributed to this project, and no product. This is really sad. |

I'm glad magicbox removed it from their site.
Hope they refund every buyers money. Keep an eye on Mr Richard James and tell your fellow magis not to EVER buy anything from him. |

Hi guys,
It seems that I missed an "interesting" thread... Well, I've just watched the demo video of this effect on the Hocus Pocus website and I don't know if anybody else noticed something that I didn't quite like. The thing is that just after the center torn of the card, there's a cut in the video editing (I guess, most of you noticed that). Just after that cut, you can see again the card on the table next to the glass and with the supposedly torn center beside it. What worries me is that the card doesn't seem to have any creases on it anymore!!! It's a completely different (and new) card, which happens to have its center cut out!! Don't know if that means anything, but having had so much controversy about this item, even before it's been released, here's another one looking forward to reading a review on this. Later,

I see what you mean double_lift. it seems the linked demo at HP is gone.
Wonder if you can do the trick just as shown in the demo clip ?? All that marking the small bit of card is the worst bit of misdirection I've seen. |

Uh, the video has not disappeared. It's still live and has not been taken down.

A closer shot of the card would have shown them. The video cut was needed, because there are some moves you must make to get into that position you see after the cut. Nothing complicated, but still required. Something similar is required after you pull the card off of the glass. The gimmicked card is hand made and actually very well done. I was very pleased with the card. The instructional dvd was very basic. I imagine it is Richard doing the instructions, and he does not utter a word. Some text on the screen and hand movements. I was not pleased with the dvd at all. I basically perform for the same people constantly. So in my case, this is a one performance and done effect, since it uses the same card each time. You can not take the card off of the glass and give it right to the spectator. But with enough practice, you could seem to perform a miracle. Phil |

You could hand out the glass for inspection instead. But the heat will be on the card. I suspect the video does not show the effect in its performance entirety, so if this involves a double lift to switch the gimmick in and out, then it seems like a lot of money to me. I will wait for some reviews before buying. |

Hi,
I have the effect its rubbish! Or at least the DVD explaination is basicaly after the penetration o the glass Richard says switch the gimmick out while no ones looking. the gimmick is ok and well made but you are going to have to come up with your own ways of swiching it in and out 1 out of 10 rating for me lou |

Lou : what did you expect : real magic ?
It is obvious that you have to switch the gimmick. If you are a magician you know how to. The question is : is that gimmicked card easy to switch ? Is the gimmicked card robust ? The effect is like the vidéo show ? ( I know there is a switch) ? |
