To Lighten up your audience, this is a great gag you can throw in for all ages.

While performing a rope routine, throw in a couple of ropes into a paper bag. Ask the audience if they would be impressed if the ropes came out tied.

Of course they agree it would be impressive. At that point you pull out of the paper bag, Tide the laundry detergent.

Once the audience looks at you like a dog experiencing card magic, you simply reply

"You guys don't look that impressed?"

This gets lots of chuckles,

Have Fun Smile

Heee hee, I like it.

Hey, you could extend it by putting the box back in the bag, look inside, say "whoops, magical stutter", and pull out a tie-dyed shirt or silk or whatnot (or, better yet, the ropes, with a tie-dye pattern on them...).

"magical stutter, you ask? well, now it's tied-ied"

Yeah this is a great gag. Then you can pull out Wisk detergent and say, "I will just wisk it away" , "I just did it for the Cheer" (pull a cheer detergent out) then finally pull out All (the detergent) while saying, "that's all"

I have done similar to this using the brand "dove" shampoo & conditioner. I don't know if it's available in the U.S but it is in Australia. Plenty of opportunities for this one.

I think it is, but you can always substitute "Dove" chocolate, right?

Perfect! Then you can give it to a volunteer as a gift.

You can actually do this to a lot of things. The amount of creativity you can have with this goes on and on. I do recall Jim Steinmeyer doing something like this but with magazine covers. It was in MAGIC some months back I believe.

With this one alone you could do the Tide bit. Then Wisk it away but that is not ALL I have because this next trick is bound to CHEER you up.

The great John Cleese once said that there are only three rules to good comedy:
1. No puns
2. No puns
3. No puns

As they say in France, je reste mon valise.

What about substituting the ropes for silks, and ty-dying some doubles inside the bag? :-D Same patter.

Hi ross,

Try telling that to Tim Vine Smile.

I sent ten puns to a friend and asked him how many made him laugh, he said "no pun in ten did".
