MagicSanta,
I'm in complete agreement with you. I knew how I'd feel about the dvds before I bought them, but am still glad I did. Like magicSanta says, there is very little for the average magician. The tricks taught, whilst exceptionally visual, are for the large part, unmagical. Awe-inspiring but not magical. Why? They are quite clearly achieved by exceptional sleight of hand. Whilst the spectator and indeed magician will have very little idea of the sleight of hand used to achieve the effect, the very knowledge that it is achieved by sleight of hand lessens the magicalness of the effect. Is this in itself a problem? No - Ortiz has great success presenting gambling effects simply as sleight of hand effects. The problem wit some of the buck twins effects is how to get the audience to relate to them. |

On second viewing, I'd say that some of the effects are exceptionally workable without too much practise, and have some very clean handling. The handling does however appear to b e fairly angley. Can anyone verify this? My slight concerns, is that the speed with which the effects are performed, it may be confusing for the spectator keeping track of which card is where.
I enjoyed their double lifts and displays. The multi cuts really aren't my thing. Lennart green's Z cuts are about it for me, and I even find seeing them done by the twins not particularly aesthetically pleasing. |

Holey Moley.
If you believe that your spectators "know everything you do is by sleight of hand" (or gimmicks), then you are not effectivly creating "magic moments" (and based on what you assume they assume, why would you even care?). Do you even believe what you are doing is magical? If not, that attitude will be conveyed to your audience. Magic is created in the mind of the spectator. So if all you are doing is showing off, that is what they will see. There is a huge difference between "doing a magic trick" and "creating magic". Douglas M. |

Douglas M.,
There is a clear diffence for the spectator between effects that require large hand movements and effects that don't. |
