Dhoehne: Great post!
Seriously, wouldn't it nice if there were an "official museum of Magic in Colon" where wonderful pieces like these could be displayed from some of America's greatest modern Magicians like Neil Foster who were based out of Colon, Michigan? I wonder if the American Museum of Magic is still in operation? I believe that when I was there they were displaying one of Neil Foster's Zombies along with the 36 inch doubleweight Rice Dragon Silk that he used. |

Henry John Heinz was born in Pittsburgh on October 11, 1844, and died on May 14, 1919 (today is the anniversary date). Heinz was a master of promotion. When given a poor location at the 1893 World's Fair in Chicago, he came up with the "pickle pin" give away which attracted huge crowds. After seeing a shoe store with a great "variety" of shoes, he came up with the "57 Varieties" idea even though he was actually producing more than that. Legend?: Heinz was cremated and his wife had his ashes put in a large ketchup bottle. When she went to distribute his ashes over the railing of a cruise ship, she had to pound the bottom with her palm to get the ashes to come out!

We have a museum here in Colon that features several magic pieces from Blackstone,etc....if you are in Colon this August please stop and check it out! As far as the labels are concerned - you could always buy full sheet labels and make copies on your printer by scanning the original for your personal use but due to copyright laws you couldn't sell them...just a thought.

So, even if you could print them on an ink-jet printer, how could you get the Heinz label to put on the silk/paper? I've got an original Neilson Heinz but the label is permanently fixed and is very wrinkled, as well as the neck label. So, there are two labels to make it look 'real/official'. Any suggestions as to where do download the real thing? And, yeah. A real cap works fine as a replacement.

Will this label help?

To save this picture to your computer, put your mouse on the picture, and right click your mouse button. Then select Save as in the pop up list. The default will be save to My Pictures. Now you can import into Windows "Paint" program.
If you have MS Office you should have a picture editor with that program, there you can edit, crop, and make the background invisible and save as a .gif extension picture. |

That's one of the problems with Patents and Trademarks. If you don't enforce them (often at great personal costs) you truly do lose them. As an aside, has Neilson ever released his dancing violin? I can remember vividly the violin doing a great zombie routine but ended off (as I recall) by running circles around Norm and scooted off stage. Has the effect or routine been released or documented in a book somewhere? Doug |

Yes. There are Ketchup Bottles made out of plastic. However, there are some bottles and other red sauce bottles made out of glass. It also appears full. I am lucky enough to get a new original Heinz Vanishing Neilson Ketchup bottle. It is all in how you present it.
My advice is do not just put it in the bag and Vanish it. Change it into something else to take the heat off the bottle. Sky is the limit on this one. You could change it into a Tomato, Banana, bottle of Mustard, Can of Pringle chips, etc! Then vanish it. I thought like others that since stores sell plastic bottles, this effect is old and less effective. However, to my surprise, I get a lot of Ohhs! and Ahhs! when I Vanish the Bottle in the paper sack. So Keep Rocking with the Vanishing Ketchup Bottle. It is fun to do and still works for me. Cheers! |
