This month means the Funarama Convention. I have never been to this, but plan to be there for my first. I picked up a yellow flier at a convention last week in Bordentown, NJ and the flier advertises Maurice Roberts, "England's Top Children's Entertainer." What impressed me the most was the blurb on the flier that donations going to the Johns Hopkins Cancer Research Center will be taken at the convention. On a personal note, I have a friend who has been getting treatments so I plan to bring her along to this event. It will mean much to both her and I. http://www.martinismagic.com

Almost forgot. Anyone recommend any cheap motels in the area?

Greetings Shelbyvinje;
Give me a call, I would like to extend a complimentary pass to your friend going through the treatments. That can be devastating to anyone, and sometimes a little fun and relaxation can mean a lot to them.

Greetings Everyone;
Anyone who has not already registered for the Funarama, or anyone planning on attending Saturday only with the banquet, needs to contact me A.S.A.P.. We have to give the final banquet count to the hotel this Wednesday by 10:00 Am.
After that, we will not be able to sell banquet tickets. So please do not just show up on the night of the banquet to buy a ticket as there will be none to sell at that time.
In the past we have reserved extra seats for the banquet, and some people who had said they would be there, never showed. We just cannot do this anymore due to the constant rising costs involved, so if you are planning on attending, but have not reserved your seat, then you have until Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM to call me at 717-456-6604.
At that time I will head over to the hotel to write out the final check which will include the final count for the banquet.

The convention dates are July 26th, 27th, & 28th. In Aberdeen, Maryland at the Clarion Hotel just off I-95 at the Aberdeen exit.

All the Best

Steve, my wife's sister is pretty sick and probably unable to attend. PM me your phone number and I will call you with the details. She has a gold pass which includes Wednesdays dinner and the whole nine yards.

Greetings Steve;
Contact Nums, if he can provide you with a gold pass, that is the only way at this time you will find one.
As of yesterday at 10:00 am. the final count was given to the hotel for the banquet on saturday night.
The Gold pass program is for those who sign up for the following year at the current convention, example, if you sign up at this one for the 2008. By signing up a year in advance, you get tremendous benefits and freebies that more than pay for the convention itself.
And by the way, 3 weeks ago someone from New Jersey sold their gold pass on Ebay, it went for $140.
My advice to you, is buy a gold pass this year for next year, you get the lowest price for registration, plus a special this year will be a $50 DVD set for free for every gold pass bought. Then if you find you cannot attend next year, you can always find a buyer as the Gold Passes are in high demand.

Okay, this is over for another year. The Friday night show could have been considered a Magic Café show as everyone involved with the show are members here and post occasionally (or post a lot).

I was the M.C., Eddy Ray and Co.opened, Pokie Poke followed with juggling and fun without the fire and Dave Scribner and Co. closed the show.

Later the same evening Eddy and I, along with Maurice Roberts provided a close up magic show. The late night lecture by Ken Knott was postponed until the following morning due to technical difficulties, but was worth waiting for, for anyone remotely interested in magic squares.

I'm sure others will report more, but I still have to unpack. This is always a friendly convention.

Paul.

It looks like all survived well and had a great time.

Thanks for sending Dave Scribner back home afterwards to help us at The Magic Café.

Notice that he got a promotion out of the deal. Now Dave is the Assistant Manager of The Magic Café. How many conventions do that for a guy?

Greetings All;
First off a Big Thank You to all our performers: Eddie Ray, Donna Branham, Paul Hallas, Scott Correll, Mike Schirmer, Almar, Ben Salinas, Q.T. Pie, Maurice Roberts, Pokie Poke, Dave Scribner & Co., Ken Knott, Jim McCarthy, Laura Teate, Jeff Teate, Scott Wagstaff, and everyone else who performer, and pitched in to make this convention another Great Funarama!
Many of the performers and lecturers throughout the convention were Magic Café members.
I am now awake, and already starting the plans on next years. The dates are July 24th., 25th., & 26th. 2008. The earlier you register, the more bonus items and benefits you get. Registration for 2008 is currently at $90 per person up until September 28th. So do not wait until next year to register if you want all the extra goodies.
We are taking registrations now for 2008 at 717-456-6604

As soon as we get the contracts from the performers and lecturers, we will have a flyer ready for posting at upcoming conventions.

All the Best

Greetings Majestic:
In about a week, we will have a site set up with pictures from the convention.
One of my daughters is setting up a my-space as soon as we get all the cards and discs together. I will post the link when it is ready.
